Intercultural Ministry: Hope for a Changing World | Jann Aldredge-Clanton, Grace Ji-Sun Kim
4 posts | 1 to read
Why are most churches still segregated by race and culture? Is it possible to build intercultural ministries today? What are the challenges of creating and maintaining these ministries? How do intercultural churches give equal power and privilege to each culture? How do they avoid assimilating minority cultures into dominant cultures? Intercultural Ministry explores these questions and more with chapters from a racially and denominationally diverse group of pastors, theologians, and teachers who reflect on their experiences and experiments in intercultural ministry. Contributors include Peter Ahn, Amy Butler, Brad Braxton, Brandon Green, Daniel Hill, Angie Hong, Karen Oliveto, Carlos Ruiz, Sheila Sholes-Ross, Christine Smith, and more!

Last week was very challenging. I'm dealing with some complicated health/medical stuff, which is made significantly more complicated by COVID-19, by not having seen a doctor in the Bay Area since moving here, and by not yet being enrolled in a health insurance plan through Medi-Cal. So thankful for Planned Parenthood, the only place that would see me during COVID-19, and for staying at my boyfriend's apartment right now/being taken care of. ❤️

Caterina Did not meet my #BFC goals, but I didn't really try. For now I'm just trying to take care of myself and keep up with schoolwork (such as reading from this book and preparing a presentation based on part of it). @wanderinglynn 5y
SamAnne Love Planned Parenthood!!! The only health care I could afford in my 20s. Always wonderful care. 5y
Caterina @SamAnne They have been such a blessing to me this last week! I was at such a loss when no urgent cares, health centers, or health clinics of any kind would see me right now, and PP was able to see me immediately and has been providing excellent care. ❤️ 5y

marleed M wishing you the best of health through all of this. I‘m sorry for your well-deserved fear. I think it‘s very important to know it‘s okay to be scared and to talk about it. 5y

My #MrBook1inaMillion #readathon finally begins in the Graduate Theological Union library after a morning of Hebrew class and schoolwork! (This is still schoolwork, but at least it's reading!) 😊

#LitsyPartyofOne #24b4Monday @MrBook @Rachel.Rencher @Lucas.Rencher @Clwojick @jb72 @Andrew65 @TheReadingMermaid @Lynnsoprano @Alisnazzy

Andrew65 Good luck 😊👍 5y
Rachel.Rencher Doubling down! I like it 😁 5y
MrBook Sounds like my kind of place!!! I love studying apologetics, but alas, I haven‘t done so formally—just books and podcasts. Thank you again for joining in the fun ☺️🤗! Did you have an exam today, btw? 5y
Caterina @MrBook Thank you for the opportunity to join in the fun! 😊 I didn't have an exam, thankfully! Since I'm getting a Master's most of my grades are papers and presentations, not exams, but I do have a Hebrew exam in December. 😅 It is such a joy and a blessing to be studying all this stuff formally with fantastic professors! 😊 5y

Very much looking forward to a weekend of #MrBook1inaMillion! Here's my TBR (high priority on the left, low priority on the right), why yes it is all for grad school, but I'm hoping to squeeze fun audiobook time in too! I'm also not much of a snacker, but I love tea, so I decided I'd do some tea and cookies as my snack this weekend. 😊 #LitsyPartyofOne #24B4Monday #Readathon @MrBook @Alisnazzy @Lynnsoprano @Clwojick @Andrew65 @jb72

Caterina @Rachel.Rencher @Lucas.Rencher Side note - should I be tagging all y'all or only some of y'all for readathon posts this weekend? 5y
TheBookAddict Looks yummy and that‘s a nice stack. 🙂👍🏽 5y
MrBook Loovve madeleines! 😁👏🏻👏🏻 With the tagging, just as long as you tag one or two of the others alongside me, only because I may very well inadvertently overlook some posts, and the others help me double-check and ensure I don‘t. So tagging Rachel and Lucas is good enough. Thank you! 🤗 5y

Caterina @MrBook I don't think I've tried them before, but they looked like they'd go well with tea, so I grabbed them! Excited to try them! 😊 Thank you! 5y
