Alright, listen…This manga is comfort food for my brain. Don‘t come at me. Tohru Honda is a recently-orphaned high school student. Through some shenanigans, she discovers that the Prince of her school, Yuki Sohma, and his family are hiding a secret: They are each possessed by a spirit of the zodiac and when hugged by a member of the opposite sex, they transform into that animal. A surprisingly deep, fluffy, fun manga. I‘m gonna marry Hatori..🤣
I'm not feeling well and I'm done with my hospital chaplain internship, so it's time to get cozy with my new Switch and the manga of my favorite anime.💛 (On my #bookspinbingo card too!)
Easy morning manga reading after a night of ministry and very little sleep. I love this ministry of presence as a chaplain at the hospital. ❤️
The conscience is something that develops, like our bodies. It‘s our heart that grows inside of us. She said that‘s why there are different forms of kindness, depending on the person. Everyone has desires from the moment they are born so that‘s easy to understand. But kindness is something that each person has to craft for themselves. It‘s easily misinterpreted or taken for hypocrisy.
This book was so so good. I can‘t wait to read the rest of the series.
I'm really excited about a graphic novel/manga group! I only have 1 unread graphic novel in my house and it's too big to ship, so I hope it's okay to offer up a manga selection. These are all first volumes. If none of these work, I can always run over to my local used bookstore and see what else they have. #LMPBC #Round6 #GroupU
I'll tag the other two in the comments.
Day 24 #sisforseptember is from a favorite manga series, Fruits Basket, which has a bunch of kids from high #school, several of which have a curse that has them turning into the animals of the Chinese zodiac if they're hugged by the opposite sex. And of course, there's a cute little girl that the male zodiac animals all have a crush on. It's cute and a lot of fun.

This is my all time favorite series, and i am so thankful to have it again. When they re-released it as collectors editions.
Tohru Honda is living in a tent, in the woods, after loosing her mother. But that doesn't let that bother her, or feel the need to trouble her friends, with her troubles.
But when she comes across the most popular boy in school Yuki Sohma! Outside her tent. Is it for the best?
Collection is complete
🐭 Artwork is beautiful!
🐭 Story‘s unique from most things I‘ve read within shōjo.
🐭 Each character is multi-layered & it helps to build a fully fleshed out story.
🐭 Romance doesn‘t monopolise the foundation of the narrative, which is fantastic.
🐭Tohru Honda is a very likeable character; her empathy & compassion is lovely.
🐭The humour is glorious & quite laugh-out-loud
🐭I enjoyed taking my time & savouring every page of every chapter.
🐭5/5
This is maybe a third of the books @NataliePatalie has taking up residence at my house.

Going to start reading this series during the Autumn season in the beautifully re-released Collector's Editions. 💕 My first time reading the manga!

While I have fond memories of Fruits Basket, re-reading over a decade later I find it frustrating and boring.
It adheres to all the Shojo tropes and offers very little of interest. The humour is either lost in translation or just not very good. I'm really not it's target audience. Not anymore.
Unless you love shojo, I'd give this one a skip.
Went to Barnes and Noble and found they reprinted the first manga I became obsessed with. So of course I had to get it. It's a straight up classic.
When I was younger, I found a few copies of Fruits Basket in the public library but I never actually owned them myself. I read a few of the manga and absolutely loved them. As you can imagine, I was very heartbroken when they were removed from the library with no intention to get them back again. I was so excited when they bought out a collector‘s edition! Fruits Basket was a little slower to start than I had anticipated, but you can sense early on that it will be a series that ends up being much more than what it seems. It shines in those cut scene moments where the characters are thinking deeply about the changes they want to make in their lives
#16 graphic of the #sizzlinsummerbooks . This is one of my favorite books to read.
Rereading a series that's so near and dear to my heart is such a joy. This manga series is incredibly sweet and funny. Highly recommend! Plus these new editions are beautiful.
So excited to read this series all over! Starting it now!
New collector's editions of Fruits Basket are out. Volume 1 AND 2 dropped just a few days ago. My poor wallet! But I'm very excited :)
