Myth-O-Mania: Have a Hot Time, Hades!
Myth-O-Mania: Have a Hot Time, Hades! | Kate McMullan

Think you know the real story behind the Greek myths? Think again. Most people only know what Zeus wants them to. But the truth is, Zeus is a total myth-o-maniac. Hades, King of the Underworld, is here to set the record straight on how he ended up as Ruler of the Underworld and Zeus became King of the Gods.

A cute retelling of the war between the Titans and the Olympians, told from Hades' point of view. A very quick read. I appreciated the short recap of the traditional telling (that is, the Zeus-centric version) at the end.

I will definitely read others in the series. Many thanks to @LibrarianRyan and @ravenlee for bringing this series to my attention. These books would be great with the Percy Jackson series.

ravenlee My kiddo also loves the Goddess Girls series and the Heroes in Training series, both by Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams. They‘re for a slightly younger crowd than Myth-O-Mania and Percy Jackson. I am LOVING all these books for mythology-obsessed readers! 5y
Sace @ravenlee ooooo... I'll have to check those out! 5y

LibrarianRyan @ravenlee that‘s a great series. Plus she does Thunder girls which is like goddess girls only Norse mythology. 5y
Sace @ravenlee @LibrarianRyan y'all are killing me. How am I supposed to find time to read all these? 🤣 5y
ravenlee @LibrarianRyan we have the first two of that series, too! @Sace they‘re all middle grade, they go fast! 5y
LibrarianRyan @ravenlee Plus, I am going to Throw another series at you. Beasts of Olympus. This is a beginning Chapter book series. There are only 9 books, but oh so much fun. 5y
ravenlee @LibrarianRyan we looked at that series this summer but she wasn‘t interested. Maybe another time. 5y

@ravenlee mentioned the series so I had to put my other books on hold and check out the first book.

ravenlee My kid loves them, and I‘ve been enjoying them too. I think @LibrarianRyan recommended them to me first. 5y
LibrarianRyan They are a fun series and even though they are older you can‘t tell because they have not really gone out of print. Just gotten new covers. 5y
Sace @LibrarianRyan I think I like the newer covers 😊 5y

I‘ve been assigned to read one of the kiddo‘s favorite series. One down, nine to go.

A fun retelling of how the Olympians came to power, as told by Hades to correct Zeus‘ “exaggerations.”

And the kiddo‘s library #bookhaul. We picked up my MIL from the airport this morning, went straight to the library, and this is the kiddo‘s “light” stack for the visit. 😆 We‘ll see how much reading she actually does this week.

DivineDiana I like the way she thinks! 👏🏻🙂😉 5y
ravenlee @DivineDiana to be fair, most of those books will take her 10 minutes or less. 5y

Fantastic #childrensbook retelling of #GreekMythology from Hades‘ perspective. As a Chthonic devotee, I especially appreciated it. It is punny and child-friendly. #childrensbooks #hades
