“And that was the moment when Sofia first knew being brave means doing the thing you must do, though your heart cracks with fear. Though you're just in Grade Two.“

I like that the community gets together at the end to build a park together.
When Sofia Valdez sees a problem, she will find a solution! In this book, she visits City Hall to turn a pile of trash into a park. The lesson of this book is that you have to be brave to do what's right!
Cute story that may inspire young readers. Story is about Sofia being a go getter and always helping others. It is a busy, fast paced read
Very fun picture book! Very busy with words, the story, and illustrations. Fun read for kids, inspiring too
“The very next morning at half dawn, she planted a sign at the front of the lawn. She stood back and smiled”
Great story about a determined 2nd grader who works hard to change her town. She fights for what she wants and gets the whole town involved. This book rhymes which gives it a nice flow. The words surround the images and bring focus to them. The pictures are full of diversity.
“And that was the moment when Sofia first knew being brave means doing the thing you must do, though your heart cracks with fear.“
This book is a cute way to inspire kids to do whatever they set their mind to.
This picture book was super cute and explained the journey of a young second grade girl who wanted to make her town better. She had many ideas and was afraid to bring them to city hall, but she stepped into her bravery and was able to get the job done. The message of this story is for young readers to believe in themselves. The illustrations are simple and have a lot of white space around them, making it easy for kids to look at.

This is a great addition to a great series. I find that they cadence in this book can be broken in places and it takes the reader from the story, but overall it‘s a fine read. Sofia wants to change a landfill to a park, but realizes she cannot do it alone. She goes to city hall to get her dreams accomplished and realized what it takes to bring others together for the betterment of her community.
Sofía Valdez, Future Prez is a RF/P picture book about a girl who‘s abuelito hurts his ankle at a local landfill. Sofia decides that she wants to do something about this landfill and turn it into a park! But, City Hall tells her she can‘t because she is just a kid. Sofía sets out to prove them wrong! #UCFLAE3414SP21
♥️♥️♥️ On the last few #readharder tasks. This one is for task 18, a book with a human main character from marginalized community. This is a cute little story about the beginnings of public service.
I immediately thought of Sofia Valdez. When her Abuelo is hurt chasing a squirrel through a local trash heap, Sofia imagines turning that heap into a beautiful park. She takes her idea to the community and then all the way to City Hall. She may only be in 2nd grade, but she's already learned that anyone can make a difference in their community. #litfortunecookie @KVanRead
Thanks for the tag @vivastory 😊
Tagging anyone who wants to play!
This is one our favorite bedtime books. Great story about being a part of your community and trying to enact change even when you feel small. As you can see, the art is beautiful. And I love that little Sofia's bedroom is a tribute to Sade, who is everything ❤
I cried at times! Hit me in the feels. Positive portrayal of great kids with a strong message.
Sofía Valdez is a young activist who will steal your heart with her determination to improve her community. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
