I chose this book because I was interested in the title, cover, and summary

Sam goes to camp for the summer because his parents are not the best influence. It was a very dry summer in Maine and eventually, a wildfire broke out. The fire reaches his camp in no time and they call for evacuation. Sam is too late and is not able to get on a bus...

What an adventure! Philbrick ratchets up the suspense from page one and never lets off the throttle (never!)! I loved the direction the story took (with all of its twists and turns) and was bouncing in my seat for the last few pages.

My new reading buddy is pretty sweet. 😍

It wasn‘t a 5 star read for me as it seemed like every possible thing that could go wrong did and the kids seemed older than said ages; however, it was a good survival tale.

Book Fair Book Haul Day 2. My oldest was told to pick at least one chapter book and one nonfiction. The rest of the his money could go to anything he wants and he picked some books for his brother.

Philbrick sure knows how to ramp up the tension in only a few short pages!
