The spiritual & historical fiction premise of this book is totally my style. I liked the story, from the perspective of a young Chinese girl and her 3 souls. Even if the 2nd part has its lengths, once in the 3rd, I could not put it down! Beautiful story of atonement, against a background of Chinese culture and politics.

Actual plan to stop reading as for me its a bit dull. But, then it became better.
March #BookSpin. @TheAromaofBooks Leiyin is dead she will make a reflection of her life and will try to amend her errors with her 3 souls besides her in order to continue to the afterlife path. Full of history (1928-1935), Chinese folklore, generational changes in old traditions with some author's real family story. A very slow reading but beautifully written. It reminded me Ghost Bride since Leiyin is avoiding to become a hunger ghost. 4⭐️
My Swiss army recommendations for #24in48 - so hard to pick just one or two but these are some of the first books I‘d recommend if someone was looking for something to pick up. Hopefully something in the stack would be the right one!
This book was so engaging that I had to do the book/audio combination because I just had to know what happened next. 😃
At the beginning of the book, we know our main character Leiyin has died, and we spend the rest of the novel watching her and her three souls review her life and death in revolution-era China and try to make amends for actions so that she can pass on. Sounds good, right? It is, and it‘s beautifully written.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Good morning, y‘all. 😃
Best #firstline from my #24in48 stack is from the tagged book.
I have to go do some silly grown up things like getting new tires and groceries, so I‘m switching to audio for a while. 😃
My second book by this author (who also wrote Dragon Springs Road) and I loved it just as much! The MC is a ghost who can‘t move on to the afterlife and reincarnation until she rights the wrongs she made while alive. Set during the civil war before communist China, this novel depicts a society pulled in multiple directions, between the past and competing versions of the future, through the lens of the everyday business of domestic life and family.
#TuneIntoNovember First, how gorgeous is this cover?!?! I‘ve posted this before, but it‘s such a beautiful story 💚 Song Leiyin is observing her own funeral and has no memory of her previous life. She can not enter the afterlife without first atoning for her past wrongdoings. Her three souls—yin, yang, and hun—help her begin to recover her memories so she can #AwakeMySoul and earn reincarnation. Set in 1920's China 🇨🇳
I have a lot of books that have two-word titles, so I decided to make a pile of some that I have read and loved, and a second pile of some that I still need to read. 😃

Day 14 #JuneTunz As the story begins, Song Leiyin is observing her own funeral and has no memory of her past life. She can not enter the #AfterLife without first atoning for her previous wrongdoings. Her three souls—yin, yang, and hun—help her begin to recover her memories so that she can earn a chance for reincarnation. Set in 1920's China, really fascinating👻👻👻New song & group for me..thanks to @Bookworm54
I love this book... The three souls and Leiyin always felt like they were #floating above everything else. The writing and story were so wonderful. I have Janie Chang's new book on my TBR. Maybe I should pull it out for this weekend. #junebookbugs
I feel like this book isn't incredibly well known. I saw it on a FB post where someone asked for book recommendations and this was one of the comments. It took a while to get into but after a few chapters I was hooked. The characters, the settings and the insight into the world of 1935 China were gripping. Would definitely recommend! Truly beautiful!
