Strong-willed Tirzah wants to join her people in driving the enemy from the land of Israel and undergoes training for a secret mission inside the stronghold of Shechem. But soon after she has infiltrated the ruthless Aramean commander's kitchen, she makes a reckless decision that puts her and her allies in grave danger. Fresh off the battlefield, Liyam returns home to discover his beloved daughter is dead. After his vow to hunt down her killer leads to months of fruitless pursuit, his last hope is in a family connection that comes with strings attached. Strings that force him to pose as a mercenary and rescue an infuriating woman who refuses to leave her mission uncompleted. When an opportunity to pave a path to a Hebrew victory arises, can Tirzah convince Liyam to fight alongside her in the refuge city of her birth? Or will Liyam's thirst for vengeance outweigh his duty to his people, his God, and the woman he's come to love?

Loved, loved, loved this book! It was the perfect end to this 4 book series. Making Tirzah a spy was a marvelous plot twist. I enjoyed the strategy and intrigue involved in this early period of the Judges. It gets 5 stars for making me cry.

Tirzah & Liyam have grown up hearing stories of their mothers‘ friendship. When they meet, they have to put on their best performance as enemies. After reluctantly agreeing to a marriage of convenience, their unexpected love grows. That love provided determination to rescue each other and peace to rely on God for deliverance. Connilyn Cossette wrapped up the Cities of Refuge series with this solid ending.

This book's powerful words will remain with you long after its last words have been read. The soul-stirring journey of Liyam's heart will have you weeping, rejoicing, and cheering as he's gently led to understand God's justice, mercy, and forgiveness. The two first-person point of view from Tirzah and Liyam flows seamlessly to create a masterpiece that melds biblical account, historical account, and brilliantly creative fiction.

Tirzah's character was modeled after the Israeli Mossad and CIA use of women spies. 🕵️🏻‍♀️

Arrived just in time for our drive to homeschool co-op ~ glad I am the passenger today. 🔥

BethanysBookBox I read the Amazon description. Sounds exciting. I like Francine Rivers so I might like these. Enjoy! 5y
Princess-Kingofkings @BethanysBookBox writes Biblical Fiction like no one else ~ she takes well know Biblical stories and writes a story from a completely different view which helps me to understand the Bible story so much deeper when I read it again from the Bible. 5y
BethanysBookBox Have you read any Francine Rivers. She‘s got a Lineage of Christ series that‘s good and her Mark of the Lion series is wonderful! 5y

Princess-Kingofkings @BethanysBookBox I have not read her Mark of the Lion series. Lynn Austin's Chronicles of the Kings is the series that made me fall in love with the Old Testament and Biblical Fiction. 5y
Desha Have you read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers? It is one of my favorites...it‘s the story of Hosea and Gomer rewritten into a different time period. Every time I read it I am so amazed at Gods deep relentless love! 5y
Princess-Kingofkings @Desha Yes, I have and I agree 💯% with you about it. 5y
Desha 👍🏻👏🏻♥️ that‘s awesome...I find myself rereading it every once in a while! 📚 5y

Less than a month away before this book releases ... I'm looking forward to meeting Connilyn at Fiction Readers Summit in May.

ImperfectCJ Is Tirzah one of the characters in the book? Tirzah was my top choice of name for my daughter, but my husband vetoed it as too unusual. 5y
Princess-Kingofkings @ImperfectCJ yes, Tirzah is the female character. 5y
