Dictionary of Tolkien
Dictionary of Tolkien | David Day
9 posts | 5 read | 10 to read
J.R.R. Tolkien is the father of modern fantasy. He created characters and a world so rich with detailsand so uniquethat it warranted a whole new vocabulary along with it. His creation of language is not surprising, considering his first civilian job following his service during World War I was working on the Oxford English Dictionary. Inside, you ll find a chronology of Tolkien s life, along with a short biography and an explanation of his writings. Then flip through the dictionary to discover terms like Aglarond, the great caverns beneath Helm s Deep, or the Black Riders and the mystery surrounding themamong many other terms. This companion serves as a terrific resource for all those in love with Middle Earth and its inhabitants. Luxurious rich brown flexibound cover.Perfect for Tolkien fans, linguists, or anyone prone to fantasy. "Tolkien: A Dictionary" is a beautiful addition to any home library, and makes a great conversation piece. This work is unofficial and is not authorized by the Tolkien Estate or HarperCollins Publishers."

I'm stealing @MrBook 's tag today... I'm trying to buy less books and read from the piles I already own, but I saw this at Walmart in their new collection and with my current #LOTRChapterADay reading it made quite the #TBRTemptation.

MrBook Ooh, niiice! 😳😁👏🏻 No such thing as stealing 😉👍🏻. 7y
charissharpe Good find! 7y
Daisey Hoopla has this and a similar atlas in ebook format, but I haven't had a chance to look at them yet. 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Daisey I'll definitely be looking up that Atlas... I'm trying to but less but Hoopla's already included on my Library fee! Whoo hoo! 7y

These are hella helpful when reading Tolkien. Thanks Costco for these pick ups. Highly recommend if you're like me and having a bit of a tough time keeping up with things. They're making my LOTR experience much smoother and more enjoyable.

Bookworm83 These are great! I need to go get these! 8y
