Katie McGarry knows YA, she understands and writes teen characters who are dealing with life and all the complexities to make them feel real. Echoes Between Us is a solitary novel but includes charcters from a previous McGarry title that was my first exposure to her writing. Addiction comes in many forms and I believe this title can encourage dialog and discussion to benefit many. I really liked the alternating Tuberculosis diary entries too.

I honestly loved everything about this book. I adore the characters. I enjoyed the surprises and twists. I loved the paranormal aspects, the thrill, the suspense, the humor, and even the heartbreak. Everything seemed so real to me and I connected with the characters so much. Sawyer and V will always have a special place in my heart and I am still reeling from all the flutter and aches I felt while reading this beautiful story.

When I first started reading I was a tad worried, there is a supernatural element that has a creepiness factor that is different from McGarry‘s previous books, however there is just as many feels as I‘ve come to expect. As always there are some heavy issues that are dealt with. Loved how everything came together and I‘m happy that the thing I was worried about didn‘t happen.

McGarry‘s books are always on my most anticipated lists and I was beyond excited to be approved for an arc, but I‘m having a small issue with this one and am a bit worried that a thing I can‘t stand is going to happen. See spoiler tagged comment below if interested.

This is one of those books that touches you in a way that not many books do.

It's full of emotion, both good and bad, incredible and terrible. The writing felt so raw and real. My heart broke for Veronica and for Sawyer so many times but it was also filled with so much joy and happiness for them as well. I don't think I've ever connected so much with characters like I did with these two. I cried, a good amount.

This book gets 200 stars.

marleed Dang. Today starts my boycott of new Macmillan since it‘s today they begin their 8 week hold on libraries purchasing the rights to more than one ebook. I think the best thing I can do is let them know that in that same span of time I won‘t be purchasing. 5y

marleed @Branwen I opened my overdrive app and there was a notice - and an opportunity to comment. Thing is - I purchase more books than I otherwise would because of my extensive library use. Ie. I discovered Taylor Jenkins Reid through a library loan in March. Now I own 6 full priced books of hers. If not for discovering new artists through the lib I‘d being only reading Grisham and Nicholas Sparks! 5y

Branwen @marleed Hahaha! Same here! Lots of times I'll try new authors or books through the library and then end up buying a copy for myself if I really like them. But I'm less likely to purchase out of my comfort zone without trying it through the library first! Libraries are so awesome! 💕📚😁 5y
