This was not an easy read and sometimes I forgot that it‘s a middle grade book. But I loved spending more time with the Logan family and witnessing the love they have for each other and their community. ❤️

This was a reread, but almost like reading it for the first time as it has been many years. Like Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, I first read this when I was a kid. As an adult I am amazed by how Mildred D. Taylor tackles the really ugly effects of racism in a middle-grade appropriate way without glossing over anything. That can‘t be easy to do. Much respect for this author. 🔸 #januaryreads2021
I'm joining @Riveted_Reader_Melissa for #Recommendsday and sharing books of black authors which I love. #BLM #BLMReadingList.
My #BLMTBR is one I received from #BlitzySwap - Colson Whitehead's The Underground Railroad.
I have read only the first book in this series and l only own these other two, though l know the series is longer.
Mildred Taylor is a fantastic writer, her characters are alive.
