I mean look it‘s hard to not see the ending coming here, but I did enjoy the story. Russian revolution but with a magical Faberge egg. Characters pretty flat and unsympathetic but what can I say, I was charmed nonetheless.
One more #fictionnonfictionpairing. I have a thing for Russia and the Romanovs so these books deserve a place on my #tbr. 📚

UGH. THE ENDING WAS TERRIBLE. I recommended this book to so many because it was beautifully written and a wonderful idea for a story and I was loving it. THE ENDING RUINED IT ALL. Cliche and I just UGHHHHH IT WAS SUCH A WASTE. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
"You said it wasn't your fault for being born rich any more than it was my fault for being born poor. And you're right. But if we don't do anything to fix the world, if we just shrug and let children starve and soldiers die and people be treated like cattle...if we don't fix the world, Miss Kutepova, I believe it becomes our fault."
You know you're a book-a-holic when...
Someone had fun with this library book
I see this more and more in the world today with the constant polarization with politics and such. Sometimes I wonder how myself and someone else could both call ourselves American because clearly *I* am right. Always 😉 but really. I really liked this, it put into words I think what everyone feels at one point.
I just made a milkshake and I am reading this amazing retelling of the Russian Revolution with magical realism and I just don't understand why people don't drink milkshakes and read more often?
Friends I tried. I need a break from the insanity of the After series. Let me finish these two and I'll be back.
