Bailedbailed

Picked this up because having Overdrive on the Kobo is still a novelty and Stoicism is interesting. I lasted two chapters, then went to GoodReads to check if it‘s just me. It‘s not just me.

Sadly I never got to the practical/optimistic bit of the book. It started smug (everyone else is frazzled but I‘m fine), moved to judgey (REALLY bad things happened to these people. THEY coped) then got into idk-what (the blitz generation did just fine. You

rockpools know why? Cos no counselling available, no helicopter parents, no expectation of outside help, no 7 stages of grief…)

At which point I bailed. Onwards!

4/5💚

This book of #Stoic #philosophy takes a narrow look on how this philosophy of life can be used to become tougher, calmer, and more resilient. Not only is it a “how-to” book but it also uses personal and famous examples of overcoming set backs to illustrate points. The metaphors and examples used help the info stick in your mind, helpful in putting what you read into practice. Quick, easy & vastly useful read!

Up next! There are soooooooo many books I wanna read, but this one has been waiting for me for a few months now. Also, it‘s shorter than some of the rest so it may be a quick read. Sticking with a #Stoic theme. Gotta learn more if I want to write my own book someday. 😉
