Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. We had sunshine earlier this morning in Michigan! I‘m enjoying the tagged series a lot; I‘m on book number five. Great setting and characters, with tons of history and folklore about Brittany thrown in.

dabbe HT! Lovely picture! 💛🧡🤎 5d
AmyG Beautiful. I miss being in MI. 5d
MittenGirlPeach @AmyG it‘s been a GORGEOUS autumn. September is our new August and October is September. Finally cooling off now, which we‘re ready for. Although a winter of 50s would be okay too! 5d
MittenGirlPeach @dabbe thank you! The sunshine was so welcome. 5d

#BrittanyMysterySeries #5 featuring Commissaire Dupin. This is a twisting tale of deep sea fishers, small independent line fishing boats, big trawlers with nets, dolphin & marine ecology researchers,& smugglers, who all intersect. The book is interspersed with Breton tales of the nine witches, the Devil, King Arthur,Sea sirens & other regional tales of both Celtic and Christian origin. When visiting the grave of a victim,DI Riwal is concerned for🔽

kspenmoll 🔼 Dupin because Dupin sees a fifth grave in the Western row- a sure sign in Breton lore that Dupin has “seen his own grave.” Consequently, Riwal does not stray far from his side throughout. The world wide politics of over fishing, pollution, & global warming are discussed. #beachread (edited) 4mo

“You know what the fisherman say:‘whoever sees Sein, sees his end,‘ or ‘God help me survive the crossing from Raz, the boat is small and the sea is big.‘ We‘re making one of the wildest, most dangerous crossings there is. Strong currents, swirling seas and swells, the sea on the ‘Bay of the Dead.‘ Majestic soaring crags for kilometers all along the route.” - Riwal, of Dupin‘s team, to Dupin on ferry ride from Pointe du Raz to Ile de Sein.
Wowzer!

In keeping with this series endpapers that illustrate a major aspect of each book, greenish fishing boats color The Killing Tide.

My first cup of the day. French roast , “torre.” That first sip- heaven! ☕️📚
We have had days of rain, thunderstorms, heat. It is supposed to let up later today. So maybe, just maybe, I can read on my porch. I miss it.
