Fantastic book. The nephews were going through Percy Jackson withdrawals, but didn‘t want more Greek and Roman mythology storylines. This steampunk gem fit the bill: well-rounded characters, fast pacing, wonderful world building, and little plot twist that kept you guessing. Buying the sequel now!

Proud coach and "Mom of a reader" moment...my son and his team got 6th place out of 50 at the Battle of the Books (teams of 3-5, 15 books to read and master, all titles and authors memorized and spelled correctly). Here they are meditating (otherwise known as getting the sillies out) before the battle begins. Loved their commitment, their enthusiasm, and their book discussions. ❤️?❤️?❤️

Went to Goodwill today and bought a few books, all were basically cover buys because the artwork was really cool!
I love the old Anne Rice covers of the renaissance paintings. I read it ages ago, so it's mostly just for my shelf.

Entertaining middle-grade adventure - also on the Bluebonnet 2016 list.
