Robin Hood: The Legend Begins Anew For centuries, the legend of Robin Hood and his band of thieves has captivated the imagination. Now the familiar tale takes on new life, fresh meaning, and an unexpected setting. Hunted like an animal by Norman invaders, Bran ap Brychan, heir to the throne of Elfael, has abandoned his father's kingdom and fled to the greenwood. There, in a primeval forest of the Welsh borders, danger surrounds him--for this woodland is a living, breathing entity with mysterious powers and secrets, and Bran must find a way to make it his own if he is to survive. Steeped in Celtic mythology and the political intrigue of medieval Britain, Stephen R. Lawhead conjures up an ancient past and holds a mirror to contemporary realities. Prepare yourself for an epic tale that dares to shatter everything you thought you knew about Robin Hood."

Love love love. I will certainly continue this series. Set in the time of William the Conqueror. I liked how the author entwined Christianity with the olde English beliefs. #FairytaleReadingChallenge @Charityann #SeriesRead2021 @TheSpineView

Finished this LATE last night and was too tired to post. Why did I wait so long to read this? Such a captivating retelling of the Robin Hood legend, set in Wales. I love a book that has me expanding my vocabulary, and that leads me to research other things. Would‘ve finished lots sooner otherwise, but would‘ve left less fulfilled!

Was on my way home and saw a thrift store I hadn‘t been to yet. Got another $200 worth for $24. I think I can officially say I have a problem! Luckily, I have no more thrift stores near me. I am cutting myself off! 😂😂📚📚❤️❤️
So excited I found Hood!!

ManyWordsLater I loved the Martian!!! 7y

Another one from my older stacks. This is a great series that tries to tell the classic Robin Hood story in a more accurate historical time period. I highly recommend it.

I've always been fascinated with retellings of old legends. My favourite are the Arthurian legends ( read lots of those retellings, especially years ago). But l'm intrigued by Robin Hood too... though l haven't read this one yet

Sue Ooh, I remember loving his Arthurian series back in the 90s, I'll have to give this one a shot! 7y
BarbaraJean I read this one last year and liked it a lot! I really enjoyed the way he imagined Welsh origins to the story. I'm hoping to finish the other two books this year! 7y
JazzFeathers @Sue l bought all the series. I went through a sever Arthurian obsession in my teens and twenties. But l haven't read his yet. 7y
JazzFeathers @BarbaraJean l only own this one, at the moment. Hope to be able to read it soon 7y

I've been in a reading slump for the past month, so this book is taking me longer than normal to finish. I'm definitely enjoying this take on the Robin Hood legend though. I'm a RH junkie, and I've read a bunch of books relating to him, so this is a refreshing take on a classic legend 😊
