I don't know what was better:the snarky superior tone,the incessant namecalling,'joking' that more people could die at a soccer match than in the Panama war,or 'joking' that a homelessness campaigner "has an eternal home now,and a warm one at that" after he killed himself.

That's my 2016 #ReadHarder challenge complete. I've earned the champagne I'll be opening later.

The book was published in 1991 so I'm pretty sure it's a reference to the 1989 Hillsborough disaster. Not fucking funny. 8y

DeborahSmall @arlenefinnigan lmao 😂 #Fenian a sore point with me this week. My son goes to a 'mixed' Grammar school where we live. Last week kids at the college school nearby that know he went to a catholic primary school followed him halfway way home shouting 'fenian' my oldest son obviously wasn't about. Drives me mad 😵 8y

arlenefinnigan @DeborahSmall yeah, when I was 16 a schoolfriend was going out with a 25 yr old soldier (totally healthy and appropriate) and he called me a "fucking Fenian bitch" first time I met him cos I was wearing a Celtic shirt. Nice lad. 8y

DeborahSmall @arlenefinnigan I'm in carrickfergus. My sister lived in Derry for 5 years. She split up with her wife this time last year and moved back to Glasgow 😩. My husband played for Cliftonville then managed carrick rangers so I've been in every town over the country. Carrick is a nice town but still a lot of bigotry. My husband was the first catholic to manage carrick rangers, 10 years ago. He was there 5/6 seasons 8y

DeborahSmall My husband works with the manager and is named analyst for the team but he hasn't done much for them this season as he has being doing more radio. The Reds are our team always in my heart ❤️. He played for them on and off 20 years 11 full years before retiring to Larne for last year. He's a Cliftonville legend, being part of the '97/'98 league winning team. (edited) 8y
