All-New X-Men - Volume 1: Yesterday's X-Men (Marvel Now)
All-New X-Men - Volume 1: Yesterday's X-Men (Marvel Now) | Brian Michael Bendis
8 posts | 9 read | 2 to read
It's a blast from the past as the original five students of Professor X - Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Angel and Beast - are plucked from the past and brought to the present. But what they find, the state that their future selves are in and the state of Xavier's dream, is far from the future they dreamed of. And how will the X-Men of the present deal with their past coming crashing forward? ALL-NEW X-MEN VOL. 1: YESTERDAY'S X-MEN includes a code for a free digital copy on the Marvel Comics app (for iPhone(r), iPad(r), iPad Touch(r) & Android devices) and Marvel Digital Comics Shop. Additionally, this collection also features special augmented reality content available exclusive through the Marvel AR app - including cover recaps, behind the scenes features and more that add value to your reading experience at no additional cost. I'll stick with the 90s animated series.

I'm trying to get back into reading the X-Men. They're just really hard to keep up with, and if you don't, then it's hard to get caught back up. There's so many different teams, different timelines, and different mutants that it's hard to keep straight who hates who, who is dead, and who has been resurrected. #marvel #xmen

TobeyTheScavengerMonk All-New is a great place to get back into things. Timey-wimey well-written fun! 6y
xicanti The nice thing about the X-Men, especially in this era, is that none of them ever shuts up about anything important that‘s ever happened to them, so it‘s easier than it looks to catch up! 6y

X-Rec #3 is ALL-NEW X-MEN, the series that got me back into the team after a looooong time away. Beast brings all five original X-Men forward in time for Reasons, then can't figure out how to send them back. Time travel shenanigans ensue, plus teenage angst, plus bottled water and burger jokes, plus Morally Dubious Jean Grey. It's great.

No previous x-knowledge required, because none of the X-Men ever shuts up about their past woes. #xrecs

I think the X-Men universe is pretty fascinating, and this was definitely a good start to dive into the comics. I do think it helps to watch (some of) the movies first, just to get familiarized with the characters, as there are quite many!

TobeyTheScavengerMonk Loooooooove All-New X-men. I've always loved time travel stories, but Bendis takes this premise and looks at all the possible implications. Great stuff. 8y
xicanti @TobeyTheScavengerMonk it's one of my faves! 8y

I tried to resist rereading ALL-NEW X-MEN until I'd started a few more new-to-me series from the same era, but tonight I gave in. I fell hardcore in love with this book right after I decided to reconnect with the team, and I can't wait to see which awesome things I missed because I hadn't yet come to know the X-Men inside and out.
