This one is a lot—in the best possible sense. Almost 800 pages of exquisite sf fun. No wonder they adapted two of these stories in the Netflix series Love Death + Robots (the titular Beyond the Aquila Rift and Zima Blue). The size of this anthology is intimidating, but there‘s no truly weak story inside. So recommended ❤

5/5

Yep, different from LD+R.
There's two more characters that play a role in the story. The revelation unfolds differently and the resolution after said revelation is different.
I find myself leaning towards the LD+R version because it's stripped down, the necessary world building shown, rather than told with lengthy exposition. There is a detail that didn't make it to LD+R that would have explained one thing in THAT story, but that's my one caveat.

Finally made a dent in this book. The library shut down so everybody who has physical material out has their due dates suspended.
I also finally made it to the short story I wanted to read and... it's different than the "Love Death + Robots" adaptation with a lot more world building exposition/details. I wonder how/if the end differs ?

2 episodes of Netflix's (NSFW) animated anthology series "Love Death + Robots" are adapted from 2 stories in this collection: the titular story and "Zima Blue." I wanted to read the inspiration (of course) but I didn't know the collection was THIS BIG. Eeep! Definitely bit off more than I can chew! ?
BTW, LD+R is a GREAT anthology if you're looking for some good (mature) sci-fi, and the animation style varies episode to episode which is cool

julesG LD+R is great. There are a couple episodes I watched with my kids - the one with the yoghurt and the one with the fridge (now it sounds like Friends episodes). 5y
