One of the books I picked up at Dollar Tree. It was just what I needed after reading Lord of The Rings which is quite dense.
I didn't love main character Lizzie. She was kind of whiney to be honest, and I found her love interest to be hm, not great.
But over all it really wasn't bad. I'm making it a pick because I would have loved it as a teen.

Good story.

This started off as a nuanced look at an acute flare-up of a painful GI disorder requiring hospitalization and surgery. The various emotions of anger, depression, and fear are well portrayed. First love in grim circumstances is handled adeptly. Then about half way through it loses its way and becomes a vague, meandering morass of sentimentality.

I was interested because of the blurb but this book was such a disappointment. The characters are flat. Lizzie and Conner have no chemistry and I don't get how they fell in love. I didn't like how Conners depression was portrayed and how he got no help. The two things I did like was Lizzie didn't have the typical illness that most YA books do (cancer) and I like the music references. Kind of wish I could get my $20 back.

I started this book this morning and when I read this line I giggled to myself. I don't blame here I love that show too.

This book was just okay. It's a YA novel and at times the narrative voice was very teen-like and other times it was not at all teen-like. It just felt inconsistent.
