Ah, the optimism of the first day of a new year. 😀
Seasons greetings, Chunkster Challengers! It's time to decide which chunkster(s) to tackle next. For the past 11 years, I've picked a 1,000+-pg book, started it on Jan. 1 & read 100 pgs/week until it's done. If you'd like to join me again for 2023, I've changed things up to encourage those who are hesitant of the chunksters with levels to ease you in--and up! I'll email you “badges“ to post when you have completed one of these books. That's it! ⬇️
Day 8 #emojinov #🎼Thought about books involving music but then I remembered these CDs-that I still have in a closet-that are classical soundtracks for reading. (In the olden days before streaming 👵🏼) I had the book lovers ones & some others like Baroque at Bathtime, Puccini and Pasta, Debussy for Daydreaming, Rachmaninoff for a Rainy Day...All were relaxing & a good way to learn about classical music. They can be streamed on Amazon 🎼now too.👍
When this month's $3.99 or under deals have a great selection.
Novel about Armenian genocide? ✔️
1100 page biography on Beethoven? ✔️
Some tough-issue memoirs? ✔️
Vonneguts? ✔️✔️
I could probably read this three times and still not take everything in. Beethoven isn't my favorite composer, that's Dvorak (still looking for a solid biography about him), but his genius is unmatched and his music will endure forever. Such a fascinating person.
I'm only about 40% through this. There is so much to take in. This may be the book that takes me the longest to read. I started it almost a week ago.
Read the chapter on the Heiligenstadt Testament tonight. So gut wrenching to hear Beethoven's despair at his deteriorating hearing.
Beethoven. No cares given. Ever.
