Not anything like I thought it was going to be but I really liked this book. Loved Eva and the whole cast of characters making their way through life and building a family of their own.

Well that‘s a wrap folks. Finished 4 I had been reading, did a little audiobooking, and 60% of the way through the tagged book today. I really like it.

I wanted to try something new next month. These 4 books keep calling my name and I‘m wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a #buddyread on one of them in August. The more the merrier. I chose this book solely on the cover. The lion, zebra & tightrope made me think it would be circus-y, along the lines of Water for Elephants. It was not. Instead the cover illustrates the lives of our characters, thrown together in various occurrences of upheaval. Every time the story is settling it changes. Nothing comes easy for anyone in the book. There‘s no happy ending. There‘s an ending, with a hint of happiness, that was well fought for.

A trip across 1940s America sounded like a tbr to me back in 2015 and still does. I want to get to this soon!

This book had an interesting premise, and started out strong, but it fell flat for me. What had such promise, turned bland. There were parts that were so detailed they became boring, and others that were rushed when I wanted more detail. The pace of the book was off for me. Too bad, because it had such potential. ⭐️⭐️ out of 5.

Picking this one up next. Loaned to me from a friend. Picking it up because it‘s a short 240 pages, and my next Book Club book is almost 900. Hoping to get one more read in before I start that one. 😉 (I am a book monogamist.) 📚🙂

This book was a lovely and engaging read. It's about dysfunctional family, chosen family, survival, reinvention and love.

This story about sisters during wartime in America is a tribute to growing up and learning who you are. The girls go through many hardships and find solace in the people that help them move along. They learn to become independent and live their lives through the book. I felt like it lacked any real tension or rise in the plot which is why this was just so-so for me.

I'm enjoying so far. Sometimes the narration is irritating but this one is great!

Amy Bloom is amazing; so is this stunning cover that's my #FunFridayPhoto because it features two animals. On a tightrope.

Once upon a time I used to sit in coffee shops in Philly and read. I miss that sometimes.
