Twins
Twins: A Novel | Marcy Dermansky
9 posts | 3 read | 6 to read
On the eve of their thirteenth birthday, identical twins Chloe and Sue agree to get matching tattoos to prove their bond is stronger than DNA. So begins Twins, Marcy Dermanskys funny and disturbingly honest debut novel, the extraordinary story of blonde, beautiful twin sisters trying to survive adolescence and each other. Over the course of five years, Chloe and Sue overcome breakups, unhappy Hawaiian vacations, unicycle lessons, eating disorders, pill abuse, and their first painful explorations of love and sex. Told in alternating voices, Twins introduces two new unforgettable heroines on the verge, in a spellbinding tale of teen angst, obsession, and redemption in the suburbs.

As for my #litsyhandle - it's pretty self explanatory. I've lived in California most of my life and Cay is short for my name Cayla. Fun fact about my name though! I have a twin brother and my mom wanted our names to match. So instead of Kris and Kayla our names our Chris and Cayla. Here's a pic of us as babies and the most recent pic we took a few months ago. Thanks @Chelleo for such a fun prompt!

Libby1 How lovely! 7y
Kaye That‘d be fun to have a twin....and a brother. I always wished I would‘ve had one. 7y

biblio_ginger Your baby picture is so cute! 😄 Have you seen pictures online of siblings recreating childhood pictures? I think yours would be fun! 7y
Chelleo So cute! Loving those fros! I‘m not a twin but am part of a matching name set: Michelle and Michael (younger brother) (edited) 7y
MallenNC That is such a cute picture! 7y
CaliforniaCay Thanks y'all! And @biblio_ginger I have seen those pictures, but I never considered actually doing one. If we recreated this one now it'd be so creepy...but hilarious! I wonder if my bro would go for it 🤔 7y
biblio_ginger @CaliforniaCay 😂 Maybe! But if you guys do it I hope you share the pic on Litsy! 7y
CaliforniaCay @biblio_ginger will do! 🤗 7y

Yes, I've been MIA. ⬆️These little ones have kept me quite busy the last month!⬆️ I'm still around enjoying scrolling through all your posts when I get a minute to myself. I'll try to pop in and out when I can but I will still always be around lurking 👀 and living vicariously through all your bookish posts! I apologize to anyone who I may have missed responding to in previous comments over the last few weeks.

I have a friend reading this book now. She is the mother of eight--year old twins. She told me was disturbed and I hastened to tell her that Cbloe and Sue are fictional characters, a testament to my twisted imagination and not what will happen to her kids. Also, her twins are fraternal. A boy and girl. Completely different.

You guys, this book is just too weird. Page 71, but still very unsure about where this is going. These twins have an unhealthy obsession with each other & I feel like I need to bathe after reading it.

[DELETED] 2437761296 I read that book years ago... I wasn't sure if I liked it throughout the entire thing, but it was so weird that I felt compelled to keep going. 8y
