It was alright. Certainly great for readers who need their novels to be like an action movie. Recommend for standard level 12 year olds.

I love the Shane Schofield books by this author, so I was enthused to read this, his first ever book (stand alone featuring Dr Stephen Swain).
It‘s not quite as polished as the Schofield series, but it barrels along at breakneck speed. There‘s obviously quite a lot of violence & death due to the subject. Great read. 4🌟

#TeamStoker pulled out the win over #TeamSlaughter, and not by much based on the massive point totals!

What not to love about Matthew Reilly books. This may be the first book he ever wrote but full of his usual pace,, action and tension. I do love his writing style and this is no exception. This book reminded me of Janes Rollins books with the creatures he created that Swain had to fight to survive! I do wonder what great book these two writers could produce if they collaborated - two of my favourite authors together. Recommended. 4.5 ⭐️
Listening to The Contest by Matthew Reilly. This was the first book Matthew Reilly wrote which he self published and there were only 1000 copies initially. Interested to see where his literary journey started. Love the intensity, pacing and feel of his books. Much of the book takes place in New York Public Library.
