This collection of poetry was just so-so for me. If I were 15 years younger, I‘d probably connect better to the recent trend in poetry. As it stands, a lot of poets proclaim to be individuals, creating unique “art”...but they‘re all the same and the poems speak on the same things in the same way. It‘s tiring. And so, so angsty. But...at least most of these poems qualify as such. #FreakyFriday
Didn't get very many books this year for my birthday last week. So I bought my own. 😄 #birthdayhaul
While Christopher Poindexter doesn‘t have much structure or contribute to the traditional sense of poetry, he can turn a phrase. He is one of the more popular “instagram/Facebook poets” who went viral because he can connect on that desperately existential level. I‘m not gonna say anyone should keep his work in a glass case, but anything that makes people read and explore poetry is good for the current culture.
Been following Chris on social media for a long time. Finally getting around to the poetry collections.
