I enjoyed these delightfully weird short stories. The first three are longer and I loved two of them. The last half of the book is made up of 100 very short stories of different “apocalypses.” Appropriate reading for these times. It was dry, funny and absurd. Thanks to #TenBeforeTheEnd for motivating me to read this as it had been on my shelf for awhile. This was Book 7 for me.

But hey, maybe bird flu will take half of us first.

I feel like this is one of those books that will hit me really hard at some point in the future, but as of this moment I'm left feeling a little meh. A mix of flash fiction and slightly longer stories, this book looks at different catastrophic events, both big (death of the planet) and small (death of a relationship). I'm giving it 3.75⭐ (in my imaginary world where I'm allowed to rate things that way), but rounding up to four everywhere else.

So this is the response I‘ve been looking for when I‘m in a debate about the structure of society/politics.

Corin‘s writing is weird, very weird.

I love it.

Even when it wasn't racist and ableist, it was incredibly bland and unimaginative.

The third story of the collection (Madmen) is horrifyingly ableist and features a "twist ending" that high-school me would've considered too asinine to bring in to English class. ?

@Dlazarin recommended this to me for the section called "Madmen," but the whole thing is nuggets of weird, thought-provoking beauty.

My last book took me to my first goodreads milestone. Halfway there!
