The Sad Little Fact
The Sad Little Fact | Jonah Winter
3 posts | 5 read | 4 to read
In this spare, ingenious story that reads like a modern-day parable, follow a sad little fact that is locked away for telling the truth. In its underground prison, it meets other facts, all hidden away because they could not lie. Finally, with the help of a few skillful fact finders, the facts are able to spread truth--something that ultimately can't be denied. Though some people continue to ignore them, the facts are out in the world, ready for anyone who wants to hear, because "a fact is a fact," and that's that.

An important book for kids.
While it‘s my personal opinion that a couple banned facts in this book are theories, I do appreciate the message to not allow Authorities to suppress information and dictate the information we have access to. It‘s also a good lesson in being open minded and using critical thinking skills.

A very creative presentation for kids on an important and timely topic. Recommended.

It‘s a telling thing, the title of this book. With all that‘s going on around the world, from climate change to the cascade of misinformation on social media, discernment is the skill we all need. And starting them young is this lovely book that states the harsh truth in an endearing way. My 5-year-old got into ‘what is a fact?‘ ‘Am I a fact?‘ Which in turn led to discussions on hard truths & the concept of many truths. A thought-provoking read.

Graywacke Your post makes me miss the days my kids and I read these kinds of books. Sounds terrific. 5y
