I cackled at this exchange so loudly I scared the cat.
Semi-related, I will never forget the audible "whoa" that rippled through the movie theater at that scene. What a great visual effect.

Great intersection of #urbanfantasy and MM #romantsy. I finished this and rolled right into the next one. 👻👻👻👻👻
I had a wonderful time with this UF about a not-ghost thief who reunites with his cop ex to solve a murder. The crime angle‘s good, but the characters are the real draw. Burke excels at writing complex relationships with interesting payoffs. I thrilled to every connection Wes made (or nurtured), and I got SUCH a kick out of seeing everyone unite as a found family. I‘m glad I have an ARC of the sequel so I can spend more time with them all.
Time for some Friday afternoon outdoor reading! It‘s too cool to sit in the shade, so I‘m just gonna have to put up with the glare on my screen.
I‘m having a great time with this book so far. It‘s been ages since I read anything you could properly call urban fantasy and I forgot how much fun it can be! Jenn Burke writes great character dynamics, too, and I‘m still mighty pleased she set this series in Canada.
A new queer book calls for another Queer Beer! I‘m loving this one so far.
Also, it took me ages to realize I semi-recognized the younger guy on the cover because he looks a bit like Ted from SCHITT‘S CREEK.
It‘s the same old story:
ME: okay; I should be done buying books in May!
KOBO: Jenn Burke‘s latest is on for $0.99, today only.
BOOK SAMPLE: Burke‘s Canadian and I‘m set in Toronto, not Nowheresville, USA! Also, you totally loved the Chaos Station series Burke wrote with Kelly Jensen. Buy me. BUY ME.
ME: aw, damn.
