The Tiger Catcher | Paullina Simons
8 posts | 3 read | 11 to read
Can true love ever die? The first novel in a beautiful, heartbreaking new trilogy from Paullina Simons, the international bestselling author of Tully and The Bronze Horseman. Julian lives a charmed life in Los Angeles. Surrounded by friends, he is young, handsome, and runs a successful business. Everything changes after he has a fateful encounter with a mysterious young woman named Josephine. Julian's world is turned upside down by a love affair that takes him-and everyone else in his life-by storm. For the two new lovers, the City of Angels is transformed into a magical playground. But Josephine is not what she seems and carries secrets that threaten to tear them apart-seemingly forever. A broken man, his faith in tatters, Julian meets a mysterious stranger who tells him how to find Josephine again if he is willing to give up everything and take a death-defying trip from which no one has ever returned. So begins Julian and Josephine's extraordinary adventure of love, loss, and the mystical forces that bind people across time and space. It is a journey that propels Julian toward an impossible choice which will lead him to love fulfilled ... or to oblivion. The Tiger Catcher takes readers from the depths of despair to the dizzying heights of joy in the first novel of an unforgettable trilogy of love lost and found. For all fans of Outlander, The Time Traveler's Wife and Jojo Moyes.

1. My Stew is happy to leave me on my birthday at the book fair. Books are only 50c. My family believe I hoard books but it‘s only unread books. I have no problem getting rid of them once I have read them. 2. My grandfather was illiterate despite having a governess on the station as a child. My dad struggled to learn to read but loves it now. My sisters have started to enjoy reading as adults. My mum hates it. 3. See tagged book. I love her work.

Eggs Thanks for the great responses - #3 sounds good 👌🏼 4y

Young and handsome, Julian lives a charmed life in Los Angeles. His world is turned upside down by a love affair with Josephine, a mysterious young woman who takes him by storm. But she is not what she seems, carrying secrets that tear them apart—perhaps forever.

Middle of book was slow. magical realism, romance, time travel. First part of a trilogy. I found it interesting and I think 2nd book will flow better Thanks to LibraryThing for an ARC.

TheSpineView I liked it even though parts were slow. 5y
EadieB @TheSpineView Thanks for letting me know. I also read Red Leaves by her and enjoyed that one. It reminded me of Donna Tartt's Secret History. 5y

An enthralling story about love and loss. Perfect for fans of The Time Traveler's Wife. The middle was a little verbose and slow. Anyone who has read books by Paullina Simons know this already. Still a solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐ See my full review on my blog at www.thespineview.com.

tjwill I love The Time Traveler‘s Wife, so I must stack this! 5y
