In Seven Ways We Lie, a chance encounter tangles the lives of seven high school students, each resisting the allure of one of the seven deadly sins, and each telling their story from their seven distinct points of view. The juniors at Paloma High School all have their secrets, whether its the thespian who hides her trust issues onstage, the closeted pansexual who only cares about his drug-dealing profits, or the neurotic genius whos planted the seed of a school scandal. But its Juniper Kipling who has the furthest to fall. No one would argue that Juniperobedient daughter, salutatorian, natural beauty, and loyal friendis anything but perfect. Everyone knows shes a saint, not a sinner; but when love is involved, who is Juniper to resist temptation? When she begins to crave more and more of the one person she cant have, her charmed life starts to unravel. Then rumors of a studentteacher affair hit the fan. After Juniper accidentally exposes her secret at a party, her fate falls into the hands of the other six sinners, bringing them into one anothers orbits. All seven are guilty of something. Together, they could save one another from their temptationsor be ruined by them. Riley Redgates twisty YA debut effortlessly weaves humor, heartbreak, and redemption into a drama that fans of Jenny Han and Stephanie Perkins will adore.

I‘ll generally pick a paperback over hardcover any day - these are so much bulkier and I need to set the cover aside so it doesn‘t get damaged! But this one has a gorgeous cover underneath too!

Starting my 12th hr which means... I won‘t complete it this time 🤷🏻‍♀️ but still committing to get as close as possible! This is the new couple-read for the hubby & I. #24in48

Lola I love finding Easter Eggs like that when I take off a book cover 📚 6y

I️ never realized how many books I️ had with seven in the title, until now. This is just a sampling, the only one of which I‘ve read is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Seven Days of Us is on my shortlist though. #novemberbythenumbers #seven

#fairyphoto4 prompt: Mug and fav male characters
I'm gonna start with Valentine Simmons from 7 ways we lie because he's the first ever aroace main character I've read about and not only is he amazing and I love him, this representation is very important to me.
My favorite male character of all time is probably Ronan Lynch because he's badass and a softie and I'd probably do anything to be his friend if he was real.

No room for the rest of them 🙄

I'm currently reading this book for the BookTubeAThon. It took me a little while to get into the book but once all the character are introduced, I want to get to know about them more and more. The book definitely reminds me A LOT about HS years and it brings back many memories 🙂

This was good! A story about relationships & how easily they can twist, turn, sour & change, it has a cast of intriguing characters who move through their world on the wings of deft dialogue. The plot was haphazard, though, which is the danger you run into with 7 points of view. I didn't love the experimental poetry, & I wish I'd seen more of a connection to the seven sins — the thread that never gets tied. Good for a fun, onetime read. ★★★☆☆.

Day 5, #bestdebutsof2016 - I pick Seven Ways We Lie. This story is set in high school and tells the stories of multiple characters whose lives intersect. This book will make you think. It was quite compelling and definitely worth reading! #feistyfeb 📚🤓📚

Good depth of character (though you get a lot of narrators). I liked how the main plot weaves in and out of each character's story. Pansexual and asexual representation. Definitely worth a try!

I'm sneaking in some reading at work today! I don't know much about this. I was in the mood for some queer YA, and this was on gayya.org's masterlist of titles, so I'm picking it up just based on that. We'll see how it goes! (And if I don't like it, I have a bunch of other titles to pick up at the library on Friday!)

Enjoyed this YA that follows seven students in high school. Speaks volumes about building empathy and seeing shades of gray.

I really enjoyed this. Of course, it is set in high school so be prepared for a lot of angsty drama. Nonetheless I found myself really rooting for most of the characters, (there was only one I disliked!) and there are definitely some relatable things here. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Recommended!

Started this on vacation because I figured that it looked like a mindless teen book. I was pleasantly surprised. People often forget about all of the secrets people tend to keep from those around them.

I'm a sucker for a scandalous YA novel (hello, 30-something with a Pretty Little Liars obsession). The characters in this one felt much more three dimensional than standard fare, every character had a different voice. Also, a good reminder of how happy I am to be done with that phase of my life! Yay adulthood!

This is the second book in a row that I've read that includes the word "cul-de-sacs" ?

There are positives to Redgate's book, but the very premise of the story is ridiculous. If there is an anonymous report that a student and teacher are sexually involved, there isn't a school in this country that would have the principal announce it at an assembly, interrogate every student in the school, and announce the investigation's conclusions over the school's public address system. Sorry. That's absurd. Where was the editor here?

Really enjoyed this book. Not because everything ends happily every after, but because it feels real. The lies we all hide from others, the judgements people make, and dealing with the fallout from all of it. Written from different points of view too which I think adds a bit of reality to the tale too.

I think I would like this if I read it, but I listened to it and I absolutely hated some of the narrators (it rotates between readers depending on the character chapter). Several were very monotone. I listen to books at work and even though it is short I took me a long time to get through.

Enjoyed this more than I expected to. A good reminder that often people are going through things you know nothing about. Also a good reminder to teens that they aren't going through things alone. Great characters and smart writing.

4🌟 It's a large task to have 7 first-person narrators, but Redgate is mostly up to it. Some sins (pride, envy, greed, lust) are better shown than others (gluttony). The plot is well constructed, and the characters are memorable. Overall, a solid effort at a difficult undertaking.

LibrarianToujours Looks interesting...I think I'll add this to my order for the library! 9y
