This audible was great. Especially, if you like his music.

⭐️⭐️ Themed memoirs are just not my jam. I‘d rather hear a person‘s *detailed* life story; their struggles, truths, accomplishments, and failures rather than introspective and repetitive affirmations. This was just too self helpish for me. Just not what I was hoping for. Common does a nice job narrating, though. Thanks for the “skip-the-line” copy, NPL. Saved that money, honey.

Common shares what life has taught him about love in every sense of the word. He writes from a place of humility and openness. While I understand that this is a memoir, it felt too introspective, as if each chapter was a journal entry. While others may connect more with this format, it was a bit too circular for me. I think this would be better as an audiobook, and while it fell flat for me, we can all benefit from the overall message.
Very well written. He doesn't have answers, he's trying to figure out out like the rest of us. He's honest and willingly bars his mistakes for all to see.
"But if you think of love as a verb, an action, then the sentence becomes a promise for action, stipulating your commitment to that other person in the moment, in that day, to act with love, in love, anchored with clear and positive intent."
