Raw and affecting, and hard to read, but somehow also a kind of narrative that feels effortless to read because of how the words and art are constructed. Very unique and memorable.

Phenomenal sad but heartwrenching true story about the authors life as a teen in 1970s California!!
Starting Book 8 of March and Book 33 of 2020!!
Thank you to @northatlanticbooks for sending me this free copy to review for them!!!
Went to the library to take out a book for school and left with 7 graphic novels.....
I LOVED this book! It's set in the 1970s and follows a 15 year old girl through her life. The subject matter is pretty sad and there was a lot of "oh my god" moments for me but I still loved it ??
You guys should definitely check out this movie as well, it has Alexander Skarsgård in all his hunky goodness ?
Having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card 💃🏻👏🏼
*Ignore my needy cat* I picked this book up in NYC last month, virtually knowing nothing about it. I almost NEVER buy a book on a whim. My must-buy list is too long 😂 But excited to check it out!!
Last chance to enter the contest for a free graphic novel of your choice from the picture! Just drop picture of yourself with the #drawme and post by midnight tonight. I'll be contacting the winner in the morning! Again, no artistic ability required!
also stay tuned for more giveaways from the Litsy feminist book club coming for the rest of the month!
A two minute "draw me" doodle during lunch. Thanks to my BFF @KellyMuser for the scratch off doodle cards. #drawme #womenshistorymonth #litsyfeministbookclub
Part graphic novel, part epistolary novel, this was a bit hard to read at times because of the absolute rawness of Minnie and her life. It seemed so unflinchingly real, and spoke to my own self as a teenager, mostly in a way I would rather forget. This won't be for everyone, but it is illuminating to the way teenagers act and feel.
I haven't gotten in as much reading as I wanted to this morning but the house is (kinda) clean, groceries are put away, and the girls are happy for now. #24in48
I got in just about as much reading time as I hoped for one day. It's unseasonably warm this weekend so I wanted to make sure that my kids got to spend some time outside. I read whenever possible though and finished three books and read portions of two more, as well as reading two serial issues this morning. We'll see what tomorrow holds! I hope everyone else had an excellent day too! #24in48
Oooh, this graphic #epistolary novel (and the film that stemmed from it) came in like a wrecking ball and wre-eh-ecked me when I read it last fall. This book's unflinching perspective on the sexuality and coming of age of a teen girl made me want to hug her and clap for her at the same time. It is unflinching and heartfelt. Some parts were hard to read, but it's an important book for women to have access to. #readjanuary
I went into the library for one book and came out with three. Could be worse. 😂 Anyone have any feedback on these titles? #libraryhaul
Lots of fucked up things happen to Minnie, and yet she is so full of agency and will and emotion. What a ride.
After watching the movie adaptation of this book and falling in love with the movie I bought to book. And I am so glad I have it is so good, the best coming of age book I have read. So brutally honest and beautiful. At the end of the movie it says "For all the girls who have grown." That is all there is to be said.
This book just hits you with honesty.

Life lesson-how to shake hands!!
I don't know how I have never read #phoebegloeckner but this book is brilliant. It is a very honest portrayal of a teenage girl discovering her sexuality, the best I have read. #thediaryofateenagegirl
Squalor is cozy to me and I love to place myself in situations of potential danger. My recklessness does not please me. I know that my sordid tastes are the expression of a death -- I want to punish myself -- I want to punish other people -- I long to be alone but I long to be loved. The pain I feel is leading me into darkness.
Loves the way this story is told. I was drawn to it because I love comics, the 70's and feminist issues. Highly recommended if you do as well. #thatswhatsheread #2016readingchallenge #readhard #readharder #readingharderest #bibliomaniac #feministreads #booknerd #allthebooks
"I feel so awkward and ugly and naive and lonely. Maybe I should kill myself maybe I should paint a picture. I always want to be touched. I don't know what's wrong with me." I wish I had read this book when I was younger, although now is good too. I think any age is the right time to read it.
This quote really makes me want to read this book. Another one for the pile.
