Good News | 
Finally got my date for my second mastectomy booked. When I was filling out my paperwork at the start of my cancer treatments in September 2021, I filled out some paperwork in regard to doing genetic testing. I did the testing after finishing my chemo treatments for my breast cancer and subsequently found out that I did have a genetic mutation that made me more susceptible to developing breast cancer.
melissajayne So last May my mom & I had discussion with someone about my genetic results with a nurse from the genetics department from the cancer clinic and she mentioned that I was still at an elevated risk for developing breast cancer in my right breast. So the decision was made that I would be doing a second mastectomy booked. 3w
melissajayne I wished I had known earlier about the genetic anomalies prior to my first mastectomy, but that wasn‘t the case. This mastectomy will be largely preventative so it won‘t be as invasive, but will still require a bunch of time of recovery. I am doing it at this time of year so I can go swimming in the summer months & hv lots of time to recover properly. 3w
