NOPE! The opening scene completely turned me off of this book. It makes the main character look like a terrible person and a total douchebag to boot. I'm sorry but this kind of thing you just can't win a reader back from. DNF

I expected to love this story, I‘m a sucker for a strong female lead who surrounds herself w magical beings & can‘t stay out of trouble. And I did like it. But it was also kind of...meh. I wasn‘t drawn in by the story. Will I read the next book, yes. I‘m sure I‘ll even sort of like it. But am I compelled to devour the book in one sitting and tell my friends about it? No. I can‘t quite put my finger on what it‘s lacking, only that it is.
I greatly appreciated this book because it was a fast ride, wasn‘t totally predictable, since I haven‘t read other fallen angel books, and had good pacing. There were a lot of issues, too many convenient plot points, and a bunch of really silly rules as part of the world building.
#splashintosummerreads day 16 #colorinthetitle I've only read the first in this series but I really liked it, I need to get back to it soon☠️
This series is a little bit country (kickass like Gini Koch's 'Alien' series) and a little bit rock'n'roll (badass like Richelle Mead's 'Chicagoland Vampires' series) and a whole lot of independent lady-balls-to-the-wall action with an alternate twist on angel/demon/human shenanigans. One of the best discoveries I've made in awhile 💁🏼📚. Two bookworm-thumbs up!
Really excellent twist on Angels/good vs evil. And I didn't even see the ending coming. I will definitely listen or read the next one.
It been awhile since I read a good urban fantasy! I'm only on page 93 but it's really fun so far! As an agent of death, Madeline Black is responsible for escorting the souls of the dearly departed to the afterlife. It's a 24/7 job with a lousy benefits package. (From the back cover) #booksandwine
