There is much darkness layered in this installment of the series - a look at Justice, as well as religion and corruption. I enjoyed diving deeper into Brunetti‘s psyche in this one - he‘s very methodical. Leon‘s turn of phrases and descriptions are so vivid too. In to the next in the series for my library‘s book discussion group!

This is a more complex story than the others from this series that I‘ve read, but it may be the one I‘ve enjoyed most so far. I don‘t know how to even begin to give a short synopsis. This is not “good cop nails bad guy” kind of mystery, and the ending is bittersweet. Some have taken umbrage with the criticism of the Catholic Church it contains, but I think it‘s fair. I really like this. 4.5/5 ⭐️ Picture from yesterday‘s walk.

Crazeedi Nice synopsis and I adore this flower🌼 5y

I bypassed lots of stuff on my TBR and bought this for my Kindle and my next read. I tried, I went on Overdrive, but it wasn‘t available through our library, and I‘m trying to go in order, on the recommendation of @Crazeedi

Crazeedi They are certainly best when read in order! I envy you the time in Venice, great great stories! 5y
Crazeedi An I had to order mine too 5y
Lynnsoprano @Crazeedi I‘m already hooked. It‘s a great story even though I‘m not far into it. 5y
Crazeedi @Lynnsoprano I know! I love how they dont neccesarily end with bad guy loses good guy wins. That things are more complicated than that 5y

This book is called “the death of faith” in NZ, I‘ve been reading my way through a string of these novels over the Christmas and summer holidays. They‘re formulaic but highly enjoyable and I‘m reading them in order, which you probably don‘t need to but I want to. ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
