⭐️⭐️⭐️ Heard about Daniel Lee Corwin on a podcast, so I found this quick listen, free with my Audible subscription. I‘ve already said this recently, but the number of serial murderers in this country‘s history is bonkers. The Texas prison system failed spectacularly by releasing him early after he was sentenced appropriately for rape and attempted murder. Of course, he killed again. Idiots.

Mehso-so

Bryan Burrough discovered that he grew up in the same small town, Temple, Texas, as the serial killer, Danny Corwin. Burrough walks the reader through Corwin‘s upbringing, to his early deviant behavior of rape back in the 1970‘s. He explores not only law enforcement‘s lack of effort to address Corwin, but also that of the community. #MountTBR

Today, I‘m sharing a photo collage showing the unread books I have on Audible. All of these are murder mysteries but only 4 of them are true crime books.

I tried a few times with this one, but his cheery voice just doesn't work with the words he is saying. There is some graphic stuff that he reads like a children's book and it just really turned me off.

It turns out if you come from a good family with strong ties to a church, your chances of getting a light sentence for a brutal rape and attempted murder are pretty good. And then you can get out and graduate to serial murder. 💀😡 #TeamSlaughter #scarathalon @Clwojick #24b4Monday #Readathon

Interesting & disturbing. The use of first person by the author while explaining his research and take on the story creates some confusion, as there are many quotes by others also given in first person. This doesn't translate well in an audio only format. Also, the narrator is quite chipper, which doesn't fit with the subject matter. Overall, I give ⭐⭐⭐ which for me is a solid "meh." #truecrime #rape #serialkiller #audibleoriginal

This was finally added to Litsy so even though I read this in March I wanted to review it. This is a gruesome true story of a serial murderer in Temple, Texas, a few hours north of where I grew up. I‘ve been to most of the towns described in the story and even Mikeska‘s BBQ mentioned in it, where we celebrated my husband becoming a US citizen. The rapes and murders occurred just after I graduated from high school. A bit scary in retrospect.

RiverKScottWrites Listened to this one. So good 5y
