Really great world building, very different to a lot of things I've read. I would have liked the romance to have been much slower - it felt a little too quick particularly with their history and I love a good slow burn

Beautifully written and far too short, I found myself aching for more. The characters are dynamic and real, even the nonhuman characters feel unnervingly human. This book certainly does not stand on its own like some series books do, but the sequel will hopefully tie the loose ends.
It was a good book it pick up at the end
I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.

In normal times, humans being subservient to a master AI race would seem weird & scary, but in the Dumpster Fire Year of Our Lord 2020, I‘m like, SOUNDS GOOD, SIGN ME UP. Esp. if some are queer chicks. Enjoyed this a lot, fresh & unique, rare in YA fantasy. Loved how the AI are so close to human. The relationship b/t Ayla & Crier went a bit too fast from I WANNA KILL U to KISS ME, but still loved to see it. And the ending! Eager for book 2! 4/5 ⭐️
“Sometimes I wish I remembered nothing ... Sometimes it seems like that would be so much easier.”
This seems to be a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, which is not always my thing (though I did love the Lunar Chronicles), and the basic synopsis could seem a little cliché............but it‘s Sapphic so I‘m here for it and I‘m gonna read it and I hope it‘s fun and queer. #nowreading
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Crier‘s war definitely had political intrigue. I wanted to know more about their world and the divide. It was interesting to see the council and how they deliberated. It felt like there was a mystery in this story that made you want to know what happened to certain people. I did feel like this story jumped around a bit and had a slow pacing. I probably will try to give the sequel a chance. #litsy #littens #bookstagram #bibliophile
🎧 YA OwlCrate. The premise was interesting. Sadly the story felt annoyingly predictable maybe I‘ve read too much YA lately. The romance between Ayla & Crier was honest & advanced slowly. I wish more focus was put on the Made & the world In which this takes place as the sci-fi nerd in me was curious. The book ends abruptly predicting a sequel that I probably won‘t read. I‘m not the target audience for this book, maybe it picks up in book 2? ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Humans are enslaved by automae in this Sci-Fi book. Princess Crier is an Automae and Ayla is a human. Ayla is part of the human rebellion and has spent her life trying to kill the royal family. One night, Ayla saves Crier's life and Crier makes her her hand maid. Crier and Ayla slowly fall in love with each other, but Ayla still wants freedom and doesn't believe Crier is capable of feelings. Highly recommend this series.
This was beautiful ? it was very soft sci-fi (maybe even steampunk) the "robots" were made with alchemy.
Really the characters were everything for me ? but it was also fast paced and the plot seemed solid. And the world building was great.
In all I really enjoyed it!
9/10 ?
Dewey's 24 hour readathon in less than 6 hours and I'm just now picking my books. Way to go procrastination. First ever and I'm so excited #readathon @DeweysReadathon
Loved the lesbian storyline, even if it is between a human and an Automae! Ended rather abruptly, so looking forward to the sequel when it comes out!
This cover is so beautiful!
This was fun! I don't know that I super loved any of the characters but I liked the political conflict and the overall message. I also enjoyed the romance. Overall, nothing super special but an enjoyable read and pretty decent debut.
Rep: f/f romance
I'm home and out of commission for a couple weeks recouping from surgery. In between naps, i'm starting to watch The Witcher and work on this.
Hard to give a complete review until I‘ve read the second book in the series (not out yet). I love the themes of robot versus human/programmed versus passion, and I hope that is explored more in the sequel. The main storyline is about a world where robots rule and humans are servants. The princess and her human servant are enemies to lovers but it‘s slow burn with lots of angst. The 2nd half dragged, and I had to stop myself from skimming. 3/5 ⭐️
Hmm this one just didn‘t do it for me. The story was just ok, not one of those books that I just couldn‘t put down. I‘m not sure if I‘ll continue the series but I do kind of want to know what happens with Ayla and Crier. 🌟🌟🌟
Hoping to get through these and the Cress and Winter audiobooks this week!

4.5 stars / ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A science fantasy novel about a world where Automae have taken over & subjugated humanity. Ayla is determined to get revenge on Sovreign Hesod, responsible for the murder of her family, by killing his heir, Crier. But when Ayla accidentally saves Crier's life & is assigned as her handmaiden, they both realize their perceptions have been skewed by a history of violence & lies. But rebellion is still brewing & may tear them apart.
This lil floof is watching over me as I read and try to weather this (mild, thank the lord) migraine
A nice reading break amidst writing and wondering why on earth I decided to do some approximation of #nanowrimo when I'm also revising another novel 🙄
Finished this one today. A story about two girls, one human, one Made, and this unique world where the Made have taken over and the humans have become the servants. A great story of loss, revenge, secrets and love. Of course, it seems this is the first in a new series and it left off at a cliffhanger...

Friday night: time for a spearmint eucalyptus bath bomb and a new book
Started this one recently. Only about 100 pages in so far but am enjoying it.
Can you ever tell from a cover if you‘ll like a book? 😂 I highly believe in the power of a good book cover. Both of these were in my owlcrate for October and the left I am wary about but the right looks like a book I‘d pick off the shelf myself.
I really really hope that when this book is released that is an all Metallic cover. If it is, it will be awesome. If this is a flat cover and that is just the play on colors I will be highly disappointed.
