I have never read any of the Star Trek novels. I have a good friend who loves them. I do like the Discovery series. Hello Vulcans and Wonderland combined. Yes speak to my fandoms why doncha?
pickI really enjoyed this one. The story is of how 16 year old Tilly finds her way through the confusion and mismatch of trying to appease her mother's desires and burying her own to fit the prescribed mold. It's written from the perspective of a naive and awkward teenager which captures the personality of adult Tilly respectably.
Looking forward to the next installment in the series!

pickI don't know if this book is weirdly structured or if the description juat doesn't prepare you for the structure it does have, but I liked Tilly's coming of age tale. It had a lot of Trek texture (Trekxture?) which is all I want.
Oh gosh, this book is introducing the idea that all Federation starships have shirts with their nickname on them, not just the Discovery. Just serious people wearing shirts that say Disco or Dotty on them - I love it.

I love books that star strong female characters, so between that and my love for science fiction (including Star Trek and Star Wars... contrary to what some message boards say, you are allowed to like both franchises), this looks like a perfect read for me! pickOne of my friends that I watch Star Trek Discovery with suggested and let me borrow this book. Their new dog used it as a chew toy. So he must have enjoyed it as much as I did! I love Tilly she is one of my favorite characters from the new show and from all of the Star Trek world! This story has everything heart, adventure and growth! Loved it ! If you love Star Trek read this adorable book! 🖖
The thing about reading this post Disco season 2 is I am going to be wondering when the frame narrative takes place for the whole damn book.

pick4.5 🌟I love Silvia Tilly. Everyone I know does. She's this cute fuzzy feeling character. This book dramatically expands on her character and shows how and why she's on the Discovery.
I loved it.
pickI read this more for Una McCormack than for Star Trek Discovery. It‘s easy to get frustrated by media tie in books. There is only so much the author can do. But McCormak‘s books are consistently enjoyable.
