This book so far is good I rate this a 5 star I'm still reading it. Delightful Adkins has managed to paint an authentic and nuanced portrait of grief and the various ways people attempt to cope and continue on with life when the worst has happened. This is a must read.

Maybe it's because How High We Go in the Dark was so good that I couldn't get into When You Read This. I read about 20% before I bailed. While the writing was good, I didn't sympathise with any character except Iris, the dead blogger. The actions of the others either irritated me, or made me not care about them at all.

First time using Pic Collage. These are the books I plan to read for the #20in4 #Readathon. I‘ll hopefully add in a 4th. Sorry @Andrew65, the watermark covers your name.

The book is written in texts, emails, and Iris's blog of her battle with cancer. An unusual written format, but once you get used to it, it was very good.

This was my February #BookSpin @TheAromaofBooks 🎉😁 I looove an epistolary novel! After Iris passes away from terminal illness the book shares the aftermath of her loss through her sisters and co worker. Through emails, documents and texts we get to discover a pretty great story. This book is under-rated and I would definitely recommend it if you come across it. 📖😊

This book affirmed my love of epistolary novels. Described as “deeply moving, but also uplifting”. I relished the gentle unfolding of the story and issues faced by characters through emails, texts, and blog posts. @Eggs

Have I mentioned that I‘m a sucker for a good epistolary novel? And especially for romances whereby the love story is conveyed through emails, texts, & letters? It‘s possible I love these books because they‘re familiar: because my own love story started this way. Or, maybe my own love story was bound for success partially *because* I love these stories.

Which came first — the correspondence chicken or the epistolary egg? 👇🏻

Not sure my thoughts on this. It keep me intrigued enough to keep reading but lacked something I can put my finger on.

Oh my goodness. This book gave me all the feels. It was funny, sad, and heartwarming. A lot of it reminded me of when my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer (she survived) so it hits close to home. This was the first book in a long time that I had a lot of difficulty putting down. Most definitely 5 ⭐ rating

Was hooked from the first email😉 Iris leaves behind a blog for her loved ones and family members, helping them cope understand and move on.

The narrator handled reading of all the email/text technical stuff well, although she was a very slow reader (sounded normal sped up to 1.5x). The portions of the book from Iris‘s blog had the best writing/character development - there are “posts” that are breathtakingly beautiful - which made the other characters extremely 2D until Jade and Smith really started “talking” to one another. Carl, the intern, was very much an over-the-top parody.

Iris finds out that she has a terminal cancer at the age of 33. This book is about the blog she has left behind and the important people in her life.

I love finding a novel I can gobble up easily, while feeling so much. I was dubious about whether or not the communication between Iris' sister & former employer would feel forced, but I thought Adkins did a great job building up the lives of each, slowly revealing details to the other & still keeping Iris as their focus. Iris' blog posts, incorporating memories, illustrations and brutal, heartrending truths, were what really kept me going. 💔

How is this book not flying off the shelves?? Iris has already died by the time the book starts, but her voice is still present as she comes to terms with her cancer through her blog. We also get to see how a few of the people closest to her (her sister, her boss, and her boyfriend) are responding to their grief. Told through blogs, emails, and texts. This story is funny, raw, and wholy beautiful. One of my favorite reads of the year so far ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It is an epistolary novel. That's usually enough to get the highest rating from me. Quick read.
