In addition, the illustrations were great because there were more and more neon colors as the book progressed. The audience for this book would be 2-6 grades. I think the story would hold their interest and the pictures are very eye-catching and attractive

This book would be a great read-aloud for a science lesson because they can be categorized as inventors, especially since what they created was very much science-based. Because of its storytelling structure it is very engaging for the readers and the use of illustration also keeps it interesting.

This nonfiction picture book follows the story of Bob and Joe Switzer and how they came up with the idea of fluorescent colors and why exactly they did what they did. It uses facts and real-life events that happened to help carry the story along.

This book would be great to use with students in second through fifth grade. This would be a good book to read in science class before an investigation of colors or ultraviolet light / light itself.

The book was about the invention of what we know today as neon colors. It described the two brothers Bob and Joe and how they used their differences to the best of their abilities. The book has simple illustrations that keep the reader engaged. As the progress of the invention, the reader can notice the use of more neon colors until the final invention. The book is about the science behind neon colors.

This would totally grab the attention of the kids, get them excited and thinking. I think this would be really cool to follow up with an activity or STEM activity.

This is a story about how two brothers, with opposite interests create something incredible. One gets horribly hurt and in return has to recover in a dark basement. The other brother starts experimenting and creating a completly new idea of colors.

It‘s a fun book with fun illustrations. I think students would find it interesting to learn about the progress of color!

the very first thing I noticed about this book was the cover. It was like none I had every seen, with bright neon colors. It is the reason I picked it. I knew it would have cool illustrations, and it did!!

“But not for long. After all, it was the Switzer brothers themselves who would soon bring those eye popping yellows, oranges, and greens into the world. It would just take a few bright ideas.“

I would use this book in my classroom because I think children show interest in colors and brighter, neon colors as well so they might enjoy the history behind the findings and inventions of the day-glow lights.

I like this book because the illustrations are vibrant and fun! The invention of the brothers is exemplified throughout the story which is really interesting.

The Day- Glo Brothers was written by Chris Barton and published in 2009. The brothers created different vibrant colors. They created ultraviolet colors and analyzed all of them. They were able to create some vibrant billboards that stood out to everyone and were glowing. They began helping others in the war, and dazzling crowds.

This is such a fun book to use in third grade because invention convention is a huge deal during this time and this book is all about inventing!

Published in 2009 this book is all about how Day-Glo came to be, and the way they both wanted different things before finding out that they could invent something so exciting. This book is about following your path and achieving things that sometimes you don‘t realize you want to at one point. Great book for children with beautiful images

I love this incorporation in the book because it provides info on fluorescence and I never knew about all of this!

It includes information about fluorescence and daylight fluorescence to develop further insight for the reader! There are accurate dates and information to provide authenticity for the story and accuracy!
