“There was a loud sound of a throat being cleared, and the three turned around toward the desk. Standing on it, in worn overalls and a wide brimmed hat, was a little man the size of a pencil.”

As a kid I watched the Spiderwick movies, but I never knew they were a book series until I came across this book at a local library! I loved the use of language and the fantasy world that the author portrays in this book. It is like you‘re experiencing a world with the characters where you never know what is going to happen next, but it is definitely going to surprise you. “Hate can‘t drive out hate. Only love can do that.”
I love how this book makes people feel. It makes people feel inspired and happy. Children need to read this book so they can understand how words have more power than we know
This book was a different look at Martin Luther King‘s fight for equality. This book looked closer into the words he said, and the ways he impacted people with his teachings and words. It shows us how everyone is special in their own way regardless of who they are. I love how the title of the book is on the back and the cover is a huge picture of him smiling

I will be using books like this in my classroom to show my students how children their own age feel about the things in the world that are unfair and need to be changed. It is a lesson on self reflection
This book was a new perspective of the Civil Rights Movement that was told from the perspective of a child who was a member of the family that pushed for the Civil Rights Act of 1965. It was a powerful story about the impact that only a few people can have on the entire world

I am going to have books like this or even this one in my classroom. This one is more for older readers, but the message is one that all ages need to hear
This Civil Rights Movement book is all about the childhood of Martin Luther King and how he knew from just a young boy that he was going to be destined for greatness and change in the world. It is all about inspiring people to stand up for what they believe in and what they dream of. Inspiring book for children
“This is the humble cart that, not so long ago, carried greatness.”
I will be using this book in a Civil Rights unit as well as just a book to have in my class library. It is a necessary story for children of all races to hear
This book was a perspective on the death of Martin Luther King Jr that I had never heard before. The cart that carries his coffin was once considered useless, but now it is considered one of the most valuable pieces of history. This was a sad and lighthearted story that is a moment in history people should never forget. Suitable for young readers
“It does not change everything. But it is a beginning. And the power of words, the words of Dr.King and others, changes the law of the land.”
