Millenneagram
Millenneagram: The Enneagram Guide for Discovering Your Truest, Baddest Self | Hannah Paasch
13 posts | 11 read | 9 to read
Buckle up, folks. Its time to jump in, embrace your inner self, and release the things that are holding you back from wholeness. Enter the Millenneagram. The Enneagram is an ancient personality typing system that has a sneaky way of revealing who we are and why we do the things we do. Using nine types, it gets to the root of our fears and motivations, unveiling our inner-most selves. Millenneagram reinvigorates the Enneagram by putting a modern spin on the classic nine types. Hannah Paasch, creator of the popular #millenneagream threads on Twitter, reveals how this system acts as a map toward our authentic selves. For Hannah, the Enneagram is not about changing who we are, but rather nurturing and loving our whole selves, even the pain in the ass qualities. Only from this position of wholeness, rootedness in who we are, what we believe, and what kind of story we are writing, will we be able to act bravely for the sake of justice and humanity to approach our f*cked-up world with the grounded courage it asks of us. With her trademark irreverent humor and empowering affirmations, Millenneagram reframes the classic Enneagram types with a fresh perspective and new names that cut right to the chase: #1 The Machine Im an Enneagram 1 and I Can Fix This! #2 The Parent Im an Enneagram 2 and Can I Get You a Refill? #3 The Winner Im an Enneagram 3 and All I Do Is Win. #4 The Tortured Artist Im an Enneagram 4 and Im Deeper Than You. #5 The Detective Im an Enneagram 5 and I Read an Article About That. #6 The Oracle Im an Enneagram 6 and Im Loyal as Fuck. #7 The Party Im an Enneagram 7 so This Might Be Vodka In My Mug. #8 The Dragon Im an Enneagram 8 so Nice Try, Bitch. #9 The Wallflower Im an Enneagram 9 so Lets Just All Chill Out, Dude. A powerful tool for self-discovery (that doesnt take itself too seriously), Millenneagram is an invitation for introspection and growth. Hannahs revamped Enneagram goes beyond simply identifying with a type: it gives us permission to be our truest, enough-as-is, bad-ass selves.

This was interesting. My problem with Enneagram is I still have no idea what number I am. Her quizzes didn‘t help bc I got more than 2 numbers each time. Plus the constant cursing was annoying. I‘m no prude by any means. It‘s like she was trying a little too hard.

EKonrad There‘s an online test that‘s really easy to take. I think it‘s like $12 but you get super thorough results. Worth it in my opinion. 😊 5y

Snarky in tone, penetrating in insight. Would recommend to read after you already suspect your type. Not as action-oriented as other Enneagram books, but the focus on how patterns/habits/routines influence your daily life is useful.

Water average is better than Week 1 but I still only drank 32+ oz 4/7 days. I feel good about my distance goal. Haven't journaled as much this week either because we have been getting ready for our trip to the valley to see my in-laws. Btw pray for me because I always eat too much when we visit them 🙈 #BFC #BFCr3 #TeamFitLit @4thhouseontheleft @AsYouWish @ChasingOm @dariazeoli @Jerdencon @kspenmoll @jmtrivera @Balibee146 @daena @wanderinglynn

While I felt this books gave me easily digestible information about what the author has termed “Millenneagram” (based on the Enneagrams) the tone in this felt very forced. Like that “hey fellow kids” meme. I also wish it helped you determine your wing (or am I both? Confused) but interesting stuff nonetheless. Your section is probably a short read. #Enneagrams

You know it's gonna be a good time when LMM is referred to as "our lord and savior" before the book even gets started ?

MatchlessMarie The rest of that sentence reads "... some goddamn terrifying times-- times that require our presence, our intelligence, our intuition, and our wholeness." Hate to leave you on a cliffhanger ? 5y

I am trash for personality tests so of course I picked this up from the library! I wasn‘t overly familiar with the enneagram system going into this so I can‘t speak to how her updates compare to the original but I will say this was a fun, gorgeously laid out book that plants the seeds for future thought and research. It‘s not a be-all, end-all resource by any stretch but I don‘t think she meant it to be.

Any other Sixes out there? 🙋‍♀️

EKonrad I am! 🙋🏽‍♀️ 6y

It‘s here!!! As a true 4, I cannot wait to dive into this one and be alone with my feelings and learn more about why I do the things I do. Who has taken the Enneagram test!? What‘s your number!? I would be so curious!

Caterina Ohhh I love the Enneagram!! My brother is a 4(w5). 💕 I'm a 1(w2). Honestly the Enneagram has been such a healing experience for me and my entire family (mom's a 9w1 and dad's a 6w5). ❤️ 6y
Caterina Have you listened to Sleeping at Last's Enneagram songs? 6y
EKonrad I‘m a 6. Just started following enneagram stuff on Instagram. It‘s so fun! 😀 6y

BooksForEmpathy @Caterina WOW. So many thoughts! Yes. I am a 4w3, and I need to embrace more of my 1 tendencies to move toward health. I love knowing about your family‘s experience with the enneagram. I‘m glad it was healing for all of you. What‘s your experience being a 1w2? What do you identify with? And then! This album! I had never heard of it before, and I just listened to the Four song. Beautiful and sad and melancholic. I need to listen to more songs! 6y
BooksForEmpathy @EKonrad Yes! I have a high score of 6 tendencies as well. This book is really fun, and the author has a podcast that discusses the enneagram in a really relatable and accessible way. Enjoy your exploration!! 6y
merelybookish I love the Enneagram! 🙌I'm a 5. It's been helpful for me to understand my solitary ways. (I have this book from the library! 👍) 6y

I kept hoping this book would call my bluff, but it never did. I need a good slap in the face! Personality types are “thinking”, “feeling” and “intuitive”, which are then subdivided again. The author is a feeler. Seems like she worked through her own stuff when devising Millenneagram. The layout and design of the book are lovely, but the content is weak. I never once felt “seen” as a thinking type and wasn‘t that the whole point of the book?

Our societal values have changed a lot since the enneagram was big in the 70‘s so I‘m curious to see a modern take on old personality types.

I get what Paasch was trying to do, separating the Enneagram from its spiritual overtones. But I prefer the regular Enneagram. 🙂 If you want an Enneagram book, I‘d highly recommend THE ROAD BACK TO YOU. #howjessreadsin2019

I received MILLENNEAGRAM for review from Shelf Awareness. Excited to dig into it, because I *just* make the millennial cut, and I‘m an Enneagram 1, so this seems right up my alley! #Enneagram

hermyknee I have no idea what an enneagram is and I just googled it...and I still have no idea what an enneagram is. 6y
Ladykizzy123 May I ask what Shelf Awareness is? 6y
Elma I know Hannah, but I didn't know this was a book. I knew she was working on it, but didn't realize it was at ARC stage. The podcast is fabulous. Can't wait to read this! 6y
