Mr Salary
Mr Salary: Faber Stories | Sally Rooney
9 posts | 12 read | 12 to read
My love for him felt so total and so annihilating that it was often impossible for me to see him clearly at all. Years ago, Sukie moved in with Nathan because her mother was dead and her father was difficult, and she had nowhere else to go. Now they are on the brink of the inevitable. Sally Rooney is one of the most acclaimed young talents of recent years. With her minute attention to the power dynamics in everyday speech, she builds up sexual tension and throws a deceptively low-key glance at love and death.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.
This is day 153

#bookreport & #weeklyforecast

- A not-too-challenging week of reading... A bit of beachy brain candy 🧠🍭, a fun Audio mystery, and the tagged Rooney short story, that just made me sad that I‘m now all out of new Sally Rooney to read! 😢

- Still working on the Interestings which I‘m enjoying so far, and next up are my two #bookspin picks....

@Cinfhen

squirrelbrain Sounds like you had a lovely week of reading! 4y
Cinfhen How are you finding the Wolitzer ??? 4y
KarenUK I‘m really enjoying it.... I really like the character Jules, who so far has been the main one, so so far so good! @Cinfhen 4y

This is a short story of 30p, and I‘m not really sure what to say about it without spoiling anything, but it‘s about a girl and a boy. But the writing did make me realize how much I love Rooney‘s writing and that I need to get to her debut novel.

Librarybelle It‘s so good to discover all of the works of an author you enjoy! 5y
BarbaraBB Wow, I never heard of this one but I love Rooney! 5y

The Faber 20 shorts have blown my mind this month. Only a few were misses for me and some were absolute revelations. I am so thrilled to have broken through my mental obstacle with short stories, especially with so many writers I have always wanted to read. Huzzah!

Everyone's asleep here, straining my eyes to read in near dark right now. Loving these little books though.
