This is between a pick and a so so for me. It‘s on the long side for a picture book. The illustrations definitely further the mood. It‘s deemed a children‘s book of the First World War but I‘m not convinced young children untouched by war will understand the depth of the book. 🤔

A gorgeous, uplifting, sad & poignant book all rolled into one. David Almond wrote this book to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of World War I and he has done an absolutely masterful job. War is Over is aimed at 9-11 year olds but I would extend this to 8-12 at least.
