An asteroid hits the moon causing it to orbit closer to earth. This is the 2nd book that follows a 17 year old boy, Alex, and his sisters struggle to survive the climate and social changes immediately after the event. His father gets trapped in Puerto Rico and his mother is last in Queens, presumed dead. The kids struggle with their faith as they try to survive and find food and stay warm. Alex struggles with moral decisions and actions to survive

A companion novel to "Life as we knew it", it follows the same timeline but in New York City, where the devastation hits Alex and his family. Alex and his two sisters struggle to stay fed and warm when both of his parents go missing day one of the meteor hitting the moon.

These books are intense but I love them.

Got this and started it yesterday. Read book 1 and loved it. Great life-after-natural-disaster sci-fi series.

I thought this was a sequel to The World as We Knew It, but it's more like a companion novel. It doesn't even mention any of the characters in the first book and is set in NYC, not Pennsylvania. However, it's a great story. It's much darker than the first book since it takes place in the city and death is everywhere. #YAL #dystopian #bookseries

😨 I am NOT satisfied with that ending. 😭 Though I'm not sure what ending I would be satisfied by. These books hit you hard. I didn't like Alex much as a narrator, mostly when he hid stuff from his sisters, but it was interesting to read about someone so different from myself and see where he was coming from.

Today's #bookhaul theme was apparently "dark as fuck"

Second book in series but starts at same time as first book with different location and characters. Interesting contrast between the characters in this book and the last. It's a fast read with no real slow downs - really makes you feel for how desperate the situation is.
