This book is amazing book of love and sharing. We could all learn more about giving from our heart.

This book would be good for RA. It is about a boy whose friend lost all her things in a fire. He wants to give her a gift. This book can teach kids that authenticity and gestures that come from the heart are priceless. Resource: https://images.randomhouse.com/promo_image/9780375836152_5483.pdf
I would use UDL guideline 2.4 and use lots of gestures and teach vocabulary words so this book would be under stable for all students.

This was a beautiful story about poverty, empathy and generosity. James Otis and his mother are barely getting by after the death of his father. When a family at their church loses everything in a fire, James Otis and his mother look for thoughtful and heartfelt ways to help.

While this would be a good read for grades 2-5, the opening page would be anxiety inducing for mine, “Daddy went to sleep and never woke up.”

This one has a little bit of a slow start but it has an overall honest and realistic quality to the story. It deals with some hard subjects like death and poverty but also good subjects like love and empathy and a giving heart.
