pickThis is part five of the series, but I've had no troubles understanding the story and the characters, which shows just how great a writer Dennis Lehane is. And yes, of course I loved this work of his just as much as I did the other ones I've read. Favourite author all the way! 😍 The story is a perfect Noir, deep, hard, emotional, brutal, bloody, and dark. Just the way it has to be. At least for me.

This months song for the #TurnUpTheBooks is Human by Rag 'n Bone Man. And I instantly thought of the books by Dennis Lehane. The whole atmosphere just fits.
And my second try with #roll100 turned out to be Frank Herbert. I won't be able to finish this book in June, but I'm going to start reading it this month. TBR reduced, series continued 🙌

pickThis series is legitimately addictive. Lehane has an unsettling ability to make our darkest impulses seem ordinary and the most "out there" actions believable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and a half.

I first discovered dennis lehane via the brilliant Kenzie/Genarro series of Boston crime novels and this one was really gripping. Im just cross that having read them in the early 2000's ive given the books away as i really fancy rereading them. I've chosen an image from the film of the series book Gone baby gone which i enjoyed. Anyway as you can see rain ☔ in the title.
