A litten-inspired pick (thanks Lesley) and it‘s really good. And look....jeans....it‘s finally cooling down a little Aus!

Darklunarose What this one about? It certainly is getting nice and cool here. Finally below 20. Winter reading and snuggling with a blanket weather is near 6y
Freespirit It‘s raining here....so exciting!! 6y
JennyM @Freespirit we have rain, too 🥳☔️🥳 6y

JennyM @Darklunarose where abouts are you? We‘re in Brissie so it‘s still over 25, but we have rain and it feels like it‘s just shifting down a notch. It‘s been too long and hot a summer. It‘s a crime novel set in London. Good plot and the writing is 👍 6y
Darklunarose @JennyM I'm in adelaide. It's been really hot here this summer! I'm. Going to show that to. My husband who is an avid reader and especially loves English crime 6y
Freespirit Yeh @JennyM glad you are getting rain😍 6y
CarolynM It's actually wet and cold in Melbourne today. Not only am I wearing jeans, but a jumper as well! 6y
JennyM @CarolynM now you are making me jealous Carolyn. I‘m so excited for it to be cold enough to wear a jumper! 6y
Buechersuechtling @CarolynM @JennyM @Darklunarose @Freespirit I just got up and read your conversation. It made me grin. I live in Germany 🇩🇪 and I am so fed up with jackets, pullovers and long trousers. I‘m so glad it‘s _finally_ getting spring here. With sunny warmth ☀️ and lots of time to hang around outside in a t-shirt. 😃 6y
CarolynM @Buechersuechtling We've been doing that for nearly 6 months - it's time for a change🙂 6y
Buechersuechtling @CarolynM I don‘t like feeling cold 🥶. So it‘s funny to see people longing for pullovers. 😄 6y
Lel2403 I hope you enjoy it....💕 6y
JennyM @Buechersuechtling ha...it‘s been one very long and very hot summer in Australia...bring on the cooler weather (although it never really drops below 20 degrees in Brissie). 6y
JennyM @Lel2403 I‘ve just this minute finished it. Really good, and I read it without reading her earlier ones no problems. Thanks for recommending it 😘 6y
BooknerdsLife @JennyM LOL think I‘m the only one going to miss our summer heat 😅🙈 I‘m so not ready for the cold winter 🥶 😭 6y

3*

I didn‘t realise it was the third in a series so don‘t know whether this affected my enjoyment. I think this is an intelligent and interesting police procedural thriller, but overall I can‘t say it grabbed me. It‘s written in a very realistic and gritty way, but I found it a little tedious in places. My attention kept wandering. This book has some great 4 and 5 star reviews so I think, basically, it‘s just not my personal cup of tea.

An explosive police procedural set in London. Sadly a topical read with all the hallmarks of someone who has done their research.
You just can't help but feel for the main characters and the lives that they are caught up in.
I had no idea that there were other books in the series until I had finished and read other reviews, but, I will be looking out for them.

Good writing and not at all made pretty or delicate for readers.

gradcat I love Litsy! If you hadn‘t posted this, I would never have known about the series. Just stacked it! 😍 6y
AndiM Brilliant news ,l really enjoyed it and always happy to share 6y

Kate London has written a police procedural but with a difference, it has a realistic feel, totally believable with a human touch. It shows the emotional pressures and stress the police officers are under all the time, the mention of dealing with a rail crash is so real.....Brilliant

This was SO good. It‘s kind of like The Wire set in London with the Met Police. The characters are really well rounded, I ended up feeling so sad for the drug dealing kids as well as for the police officers. I‘ve actually just bought a copy for my dad who was in the Met for 30 years, just to see if it‘s as accurate as I think it is. I read this on The Pigeonhole (a reading platform like a book club. You read with other readers and the author)

TrishB I just downloaded this due to your review - as it was 99p on kindle! Then realised it was 3rd in a series and had to order the first two! 6y
Clare_Riley @TrishB I haven‘t read the other two, and I didn‘t feel as though I was missing out on anything. Saying that, I‘m going to be reading the first 2 now anyway!!😆 6y
TrishB I just can‘t read out of order.... 6y
Clare_Riley That‘s usually the case with me, but I wasn‘t told it was the 3rd in a series, so I was blissfully ignorant until the end. I shall now be spending money on the first 2 🤷🏼‍♀️ 6y

Gritty, realistic, frenetic but above all, authentic.
This story follows Ryan, a 15 year old small-scale drug runner, who becomes a part of something much, much bigger when his best friend is stabbed to death on Gallowstree Lane.
It is fast paced and though told from multiple POVs, it is not confusing. The writing is concise, extremely believable and topical.
