"A special book that will make you laugh through your tears with its heartfelt take on happiness and friendship." --Amy E. Reichert, author of The Optimist's Guide to Letting Go and The Coincidence of Coconut CakeAnnie is stuck. In her boring job, with her irritating roommate, in a life no thirty-five-year-old would want. But deep down, she's still mourning the terrible loss that tore a hole through her perfect existence. Until she meets the eccentric Polly.Bright, bubbly, intrusive Polly is determined to wake her new friend up to life. Because if recent events have taught Polly anything, it's that your time is too short to waste a single day--which is why she wants Annie to join her on a mission...ONE HAPPY THING EACH DAY. ONE HUNDRED DAYS.But just as the daily challenge opens Annie up to the possibility of joy--and perhaps even love with the unlikeliest of men--it becomes clear that Polly is about to need her more than ever. And Annie will have to decide once and for all whether letting others in is a risk worth taking.Told with wry wit and boundless heart, Something Like Happy is an unforgettable tale of celebrating triumphs great and small, seizing the day, and always remembering to live in the moment.

Polly is in the hospital fighting brain cancer, and is trying to make the most of every day. Annie is in her 30s and unhappy with how her life has turned out so far. What a sweet book! 🥰 Mostly light, with a little bit of love and tough life subjects. I found all of the characters to be relatable or enjoyable, and all in all really loved the book. ♥️ #100DaysofHappy

Laughing through tears... What a beautiful story ❤️

Wise words from this fictional UK doctor: "I don't believe in fundraising for public services. The government would love that, making us raise all our own cash from bloody jumble sales. They need to fund the NHS properly from taxes, not sell it off to their fat-cat mates in private health care."

Wonderful book! It‘s been years since I cried on a sun lounger but oh I sobbed behind my sunglasses at this one. Despite the sad storyline and the tears it‘s not actually a sad book, in fact it‘s so uplifting. I highly recommend this book to everyone, it‘s the perfect reminder to always look for the happy in life, even when things are a bit (or even a lot) crap. (This is the North American version, in the UK this book is called How to be Happy)

I want to call this a light read, but the story revolves around a character dying of cancer. A light heavy read, I enjoyed listening to this book and found it gave quite a lot of food for thought.

When I first started this I wasn't sure I was going to like it. A story about a woman who has given up on life, only to meet another woman who doesn't have much life left, has a very been there done that vibe. But beyond on the clichés I started caring for these characters. I was rooting for them to grow, succeed, and more than anything, find some kind of happiness. Cliched? Yes. But Something Like Happy is still something worthwhile.

This book needs to be made into a movie and everyone should go see it but first Everyone should read this book, because the book is always better than the movie . Except the movie will be great because how can it not be with this cast. This book made me laugh, cry, think about the good and the bad. It made me depressed and made me happy. This was a wonderful book! Soooo glad I read it :)

A cute, fun read. Lightheaded but poignant. Exactly what I needed after a couple of heavy reads. It's not perfect ... there are some cringey scenes and I wish the MC had been more developed. But it has a lot of heart and humor.
