'A ground breaking and extraordinary novel . . . Hanrahan has an astonishing imagination' Peter McLean, author of Priest of Bones 'Beautifully written. Gripping. Guerdon is the city of my dreams' - Anna Smith Spark, author of The Court of Broken Knives In the ancient city of Guerdon, three thieves - an orphan, a ghoul and a cursed man - are accused of a crime they didn't commit. Their quest for revenge exposes a perilous conspiracy, the seeds of which were sown long before they were born. A centuries-old magical war is on the verge of reigniting and in the tunnels deep below the city, a malevolent power stirs. Only by standing together can the three friends prevent a conflict that would bring total devastation to their city - and the world beyond. Set in a world of dark gods and dangerous magic, The Gutter Prayer is thrilling and visceral debut fantasy from an exciting new talent.

I‘m breaking book acquisitions in half this month.

I heard about this book on BookTube weeks ago as a coveted BLUE cover (literally the color blue) & added it to my Amazon Book Wishlist. I‘m glad I did as it was gifted to me!

Here restarts my 5⭐️ Strumpet status as this looks fantastic! Thank you!

I love birthday month! 🥳

#TBRPile 📚 “You stand on a rocky outcrop, riddled with tunnels like the other hills, and look over Guerdon. From here, you see the heart of the old city, its palaces and churches and towers reaching up like the hands of a man drowning, trying to break free of the warren of alleyways and hovels that surrounds them.”

Time got away from me and I ended up having to read this month‘s sci-fi and fantasy book club 517 page pick in a day. Fortunately, I really enjoyed it! Great world building and interesting characters made this fly by.

Ruthiella Wow! Good job, that‘s a lot of pages! 😃 4y

#TBRPile Day 25 📚 The city of Guerdon stands as a refuge from the war that rages beyond its borders. But in the ancient tunnels deep beneath its streets, a malevolent power has begun to stir... and the fate of the city rests in the hands of three thieves.

MsMelissa I have this one on my TBR too. 4y

A graphic tale of magical war between humanity, mages, and mythical creatures. A gigantic world building of characters. Some are likeable, others are not. Three thieves brought together by fate to battle an age old war and an all too consuming power for greed. A powerful beginning in an epic new tale in fantasy. The Gutter Prayer, first installment of The Black Iron Legacy, my first of Gareth Hanrahan is an amazing work of fiction.

Stepping out a bit of my comfort zone and trying something I wouldn‘t normally read. The cover is what caught my attention and someone I follow on Goodreads was updating throughout her reading of it; therefore I couldn‘t resist. Cheers to trying something new!

GrilledCheeseSamurai I just finished this! I really enjoyed it. Very Eldritch. Which I loved about it. 🤘 6y

Whelp...its almost 1:30am so I guess this is my total today for #24in48. I really wanted to finish the tagged book before bed but it's looking like it'll still be a couple hours so it'll have ta wait until tomorrow. 🤷‍♂️

I'll tell ya what though, it's looking like it's gonna be a helluva climax! Definitely enjoying this read. 🤘

Excited to start this one! The Gutter Prayer has had a lot of pre-release hype behind it (especially for a first time author) so I sure hope it's going to be as enjoyable as I've built it up to be! 🤞

How is everyone's #24in48 going so far?

Vinjii I LOVED this book. 6y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @Vinjii I'm about 100 pages into it now and I'm definitely enjoying the world & characters that the author has crafted. 👍 6y

This is my official #24in48 stack. I only have an hour left in A Gathering of Shadows & I'm about 20% through An Echo of things to Come so I think I can make some good headway. I plan on scattering some comics into the mix as well. 🤘

I'm central time zone so this kicks off at 11pm for me tonight! So excited for a solid weekend of reading! 🤗📚🤗

The_Heeler_Booklife It kicks off at 10 pm for me. Good luck and have fun reading. 😊 6y

#BookMail Pt8 This one is Goldsboro‘s BOTM for December. A signed, numbered 1st Edition with blue sprayed edges, it‘s a gorgeous book. The authors debut novel, it‘s a high fantasy set in an ancient city, a refuge from the war outside. When a dark god starts to rise, the fate of the city is in the hands of 3 thieves, if they fail the city will be lost. Sounds like a mix of Six Of Crows with LOTR honestly. Will definitely give it a go soon.

This just dropped through the door and I‘m so happy to get my hands on it. I‘m just a little #fantasy fan who loves books far too much.

Now, to do all of my Christmas shopping so I can snuggle into the sofa with dogs, books and a glass of whisky.

I hope everyone has an amazing day.

kamoorephoto I‘m so jealous!! On my ARC wishlist, this one!! 6y
