A second chance doesn't guarantee a touchdown in this new contemporary romance from the author of Intercepted. Single-mother Poppy Patterson moved across the country when she was sixteen and pregnant to find a new normal. After years of hard work, she's built a life she loves. It may include a job at a nightclub, weekend soccer games, and more stretch marks than she anticipated, but it's all hers, and nobody can take that away. Well, except for one person. T.K. Moore, the starting wide receiver for the Denver Mustangs, dreamt his entire life about being in the NFL. His world is football, parties, and women. Maybe at one point he thought his future would play out with his high school sweetheart by his side, but Poppy is long gone and he's moved on. When Poppy and TK cross paths in the most unlikely of places, emotions they've suppressed for years come rushing back. But with all the secrets they never told each other lying between them, they'll need more than a dating playbook to help them navigate their relationship.

I bought this back in 2019 after reading and loving the first book and then just let it sit. On my shelf. Why?? I‘m normally not a fan of second chance romances but I really enjoyed this one. All the characters were such fun! And as a football fan, I appreciated the accuracy of those scenes. This is the perfect summer read and escape!

This was a 4.5 ⭐ for me! I love a good second chance and secret baby romance. And sonce Superbowl just ended, I honestly felt a bit festive. Lol! Love the simplicity and realness brought by the book. #romance

I‘ve been reading this series (out of order) and liked the first two ( really 1 & 4) but this one was just meh.

This is the best romance I‘ve read this year. Beautiful character growth in the book. Real. Exciting. Lovely woman of color heroine.
Other faves from the last four months (last list!):
Nadine Jolie Courtney-All American Muslim Girl (finding out who you are as a Muslim teenager); Philip Pullman-The Book of Dust (Golden Compass universe, well-paced adventure); Philip Pullman-The Ruby in the Smoke (super fun girl detective, great villains)

Book 2 follows TK Moore and his love life! I love that Alexa Martin made the realities of CTE and concussions in football part of the conversation in this book. Another great story from her and Brynn came back too! I wish there was a place like HERS near me.

2020.03.29. 🎧⭐️⭐️⭐️ I enjoyed this book although it‘s taken longer to read it given this crazy world at the moment. I enjoyed the 1st book in this series better. Looking forward to book 3. #blitsy #blacklitsy #romantsy

Chelleo @Bookpearl I really enjoyed the first book in the series. The setup at the beginning is dragging a bit but the meet cute just happened so I‘m expecting it to pick up. 5y
Bookpearl I‘m just realizing there‘s a book 1! This definitely gives me something else to pick up. 😂 5y

Loved the idea behind this book. Was really wishing for a flashback scene that dived a little deeper into Sparks and Tk‘s younger days. Some parts I flew through, other parts I kind of drug through. Overall I‘d call it a good read 📚❤️ #fumbled #romance #alexamartin

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tonight ends the long drought of no football (#gopackgo ) and I finished this gem last night! I love football romances and Alexa Martin writes the best ones, and she knows of what she speaks! If you are football fan, this is a fun one for between games (although it may hit a bit close to home for fans of a certain team...) #alexamartin #fumbled #romance #read #recommendedbook

BookNAround My kid wore his Packers shirt today to school to celebrate the first game although he‘s not feeling good about their chance of winning it. 😂 5y

Loving this second book in the Playbook series! I‘m about halfway through. It‘s different enough from Intercepted that I‘m not bored, but Alexa still has the same fun dialogue and character development. #romance #audiobook

I have been in a very romantic mood this month (maybe because tmrw is my 13th anniversary?). I‘ve found a couple new authors that I‘ve enjoyed — Susannah Nix, Alexa Martin, and Helena Hunting. I‘d say Susannah Nix‘s are my favorite style — funny, smart, and not too earnest. I really can‘t handle earnest romances. 😂 Her books are also the most “closed-door” (aka less steamy), which I prefer. 🙂 #romantsy

Took a break from this one but now hoping to finish it up in the last couple hours of #24in48. But first the #hour36 challenge- I don‘t have much bookish stuff (except like 100 books) but I do love both these tees!

I don‘t like secret baby/child plots and I don‘t love sports romances. And yet. This is a lot of fun. The romance is sexy, the hero actually listens to the heroine and responds to what she‘s saying and it also doesn‘t ignore the concussion elephant in the American football room.

Fun, quick read! I‘m not a big football fan, but am still enjoying this series. You don‘t have to know about football to enjoy the romance.

Mimosas and a (very) dumb romance book sounds like a perfect way to spend my night. Alexa Martin‘s romance books are...not very good. And they are not well-written. But I‘ve had a long week and this is how I want to treat myself.

marleed Boy, I get that! 6y
